The Subaru Outback is a great car for a small family. Having been in an accident in my previous Outback, I can attest to its safety and reliability. The other driver failed to yield and my car hit hers in a head on collision. I was completely uninjured and emerged from the accident without a scratch. I attribute the Outback's safety features to this outcome. The seats are roomy and comfortable; the front seats are heated for chilly nights. There is plenty of room in the back row for large car seats and room in the trunk for a large dog crate. The interior styling is fine, but nothing to write home about. The wood paneling looks a little cheap, but I like our dark interior. The version of the Outback I purchased does not have great get up and go, but it gets decent fuel mileage and seem... (more)
Story
I live in Southern Ohio. I drive back roads from home to work and found that, when others were sliding into ditches on snowy days, my Outback zipped right by - no problems!
Pros
The fact that the Outback is safe and reliable (very few breakdowns) are the main reasons I like this vehicle. It is also affordable (great quality for the money) and is roomy enough to fit my children and my dog.
Cons
The styling is not as innovative or stylish as other cars.

I have really enjoyed this vehicle. With 90k+ miles on it, the only expenses for maintenance have been routine oil changes, manufacturer recommended service, and new tires. I love the 3.6 liter engine as it has plenty of power if I need to accelerate quickly. We travel with our two dogs and there is plenty of room for them, my wife, and all of the stuff we need for vacations. It's a great car.
Story
One of our dogs likes to ride up front in the passenger seat. He is able to use the arm rest/center console to help him get up front. Then he likes to lean over on the driver and step on the switch for the seat warmer and turn it on. So your driving down the road in the summer and your enjoying that your dog wants to snuggle and suddenly your all kinds of warm despite the air conditioning bein... (more)
Pros
There is plenty of room within the vehicle. The back seat folds down to provide extra space for our dogs on long trips. There is little road noise and the separate environmental controls for each side of the front seat makes it more enjoyable for my wife and I on long trips.
Cons
I guess the only con that I can find with this vehicle is that it averages about 22 mpg. I would prefer better gas mileage but if it meant sacrificing the 3.6 liter engine, then I can live with the gas mileage.

IT was close by and they were willing to negotiate with me. They were also willing to go out of there way to look for car for me that was not in their inventory.
