I bought my 2002 Toyota Tundra SR5 pickup in October of 2001. It is blue in color, and is equipped with a V8 engine. I had been looking at the Tundra pickups, ever since they first came on the scene in 1999. I liked the fact that it was actually a bit smaller than the regular full size trucks from Ford, Chevy, etc, but yet had power very similar to those same trucks. I had owned a 1987 Toyota pickup before buying the Tundra, and knew of Toyota's quality.
Story
I can still remember the day I bought the truck. I was recuperating at home after surgery, and was getting "cabin fever". My partner and I went for a ride, and ended up going to look at Tundra's at a Toyota dealership. I was still in somewhat of an amount of pain, but I ended up finding a truck I liked, and we got a good deal, so we bought the truck! My best memories are driving this truck... (more)
Pros
I like the fact that my truck has a V8 engine in it, and has the "get up and go" when I need it. Even though it is not an actual "full size" truck, like Chevy and Ford are, it can compete with them when it comes to engine power and towing. The truck interior is also very quiet, even during highway driving. I have had passengers even tell me how surprised they were that the truck was so quiet. As is usual with Toyota vehicles, the Tundra does retain its value, which comes in very handy if/when you want to sell or trade in your Tundra for a new one.
Cons
The first generation Tundra received a lot of complaints about the interior door handles being so small. They actually look like they are the same handles used in the Tercel; they are that small. It's a truck, and the door handles should be "truck size". Also, the plastic climate control knobs break often, as do the plastic lock hinges for the two rear passenger "wing" windows. The bed of the truck also isn't as "deep" as full size trucks, but that is a minor complaint at best. The turn radius is fairly wide as well; much wider than its counterparts. There are only 4 tie-downs on the ... (more)

2006 Toyota Tundra - Dependable Truck

I own a 2006 Toyota Tundra. It is a special Lucchese Texas Edition model (only 500 made that year) with very comfortable special leather seats with liquid fill for extra support while driving. It is comfortable, dependable, and tough. The vehicle has never had an mechanical issues to date and has only needed oil and tire changes. I would say the quality of the vehicle is a 4 out of 5 stars leaving a little to be desired in the interior. It is a limited model with navigation, wood trim and rear entertainment, but besides the upgraded leather seats, your eye wants just a bit more flash for the money if you know what I mean.
Story
I don't really have any interesting stories except speeding down an 8 mile dirt road to a summer camp with friends!
Pros
Pros would be dependability, durability, comfort, and retaining its value over time.
Cons
The cons would be the interior design overall. I just think they could have done a bit more to make it more comfortable.

The car dealer that I worked with was easy to talk to. Not pushy and very helpful with answering questions.
