I currently own a 2003 Volkswagen Passat. It is 5 speed manual, leather interior, and has a sun roof. It is a very reliable car. There have been only a few minor issues which you would expect of a car of this age. I purchased that car from the original owner with 75,000 miles on it. I like having a sun roof. The size of the car is convenient. It fits 5 people, although it is a smaller sedan. The trunk has a decent amount of space, as well.
Story
Any given sunny day - the sun roof and windows open driving past the beach.
Pros
I like that the a lot of Volkswagens come 5-speed manual. This is my preference. As mentioned above, the sun roof is very nice. The car also has automatic windows and door locks (my last car - a 2005 - did not). The sound system in the car is also very nice. I believe it is Bose and produces good quality audio. The car has leather interior which helps keep the inside cleaner.
Cons
It is not very exciting. I think the color (grey) is bland. Also, if this car was not manual it would be completely boring to drive. The car does not accelerate very quickly. I have to floor the gas pedal in some cases. The minor issues I have had with the car have ended up being costly to repair due to the engineering/design. Mechanics need to be specialized and it still takes a large amount of labor due to the car's complexity. The exterior noise is very loud and noticeable inside the vehicle.

2006 Volkswagen Passat - Quick reliable mid-sized car.

The VW Passat is a well-engineered car that is a pleasure to drive. The steering is responsive and tight and the maneuvering is quick. It's held up beautifully over the 11 years I've owned it and it still gets nearly 25mpg on the highway.
Story
The power moonroof states that it's pinch-proof. That it won't shut on anything. When I first got it I urged a friend to try and shut it on my head to check it but they wouldn't, so we used an apple. It squished the heck out of the apple and made a mess and whenever I shut the moonroof I think about that time and laugh.
Pros
I love how fast this car goes, and how well it responds to my commands. It is a nice, tight ride that is typical of German cars. I also love the display that utilizes both red and blue lights. I also find the heating and cooling system to be superior and both start working quickly - a very nice treat.
Cons
This car is expensive to maintain and repair. The oil changes require synthetic oil which triples the price of the work, and parts are generally only available from the manufacturer which only serves to drive the price up. I don't have to take it to the dealer, which is a plus, but it still is a pricey car to own when compared to the competitors in this class like the Accord and the Camry.

The experience talking to the representative were great. They help me understand the different features of the car that I wanted to get. They also gave me the options that I could also get with different models that could fit my budget needs. They were very helpful with telling me about the financing options.
