Favorite vehicle
I bought the Suzuki Grand Vitara in 2000. I was moving to Colorado and wanted a vehicle that would allow me to go explore the wilderness. I wanted four-wheel drive so I could extricate myself from any tight spots I might get into in the mountains. I've had the vehicle for 18 years and have loved it. It's a power horse that keeps going. More than once I've been two tracking and had to turn around. The tight turn radius is great for those narrow dirt roads. That it has a higher clearance than a car has allowed me to cross streams and clear rocky roads. The size is perfect for me. Its compactness has allowed me to squeeze by wider vehicles, I might meet while out in the wilds. Other than some weird things that happened early on in owning the car which were covered by the warranty (the ignition key got stuck in the ignition and the ignition coil had to be replaced is one example) maintenance has been pretty easy. This is my first vehicle with cruise control and power windows. I will never own another vehicle without them!

Great vehicle.
I initially did not know much about this brand, but after ten years of ownership, I have a new attitude about Suzuki. I have taken this vehicle across the United States, from Florida to California, and have put almost 300k miles on it with minimal cost and no major repairs. It has a strong v6 engine and four-wheel independent suspension. I got the sport package because it came with an automatic transmission and two-wheel drive.

Likes:
comfortable, nicely equipped, excellent heating and cooling, cd/mp3 player, great sound. Decent smooth ride on normal highways. has the ability to lock into low four wheel drive or high gear ratio four wheel drive as well as auto sensing for four wheel drive when traction is needed. Good lighting and simple but well designed dash, good under seat and under floor (rear) storage. Nice design for the body, looks sporty but still rugged not flashy. Great sun roof. Good climate control. Sporty wheels. Great tow package. Enough room in the rear seat for adults. Excellent safety features, front and side air bags, ABS brakes, traction control. stability package,
CONS: terrible gas mileage for a four cylinder vehicle. Best ever has been about twenty two miles per gallon on the highway, average is less than twenty miles per gallon. Spare tire placement is a bit high for rear view. Hard on tires. No longer sold in the united states
