Mercury Mariner OWNER RATINGS & REVIEWS

Great small SUV.
The 2007 Mercury Mariner has been a great vehicle. It is well built, in that it has no rattles nor has any trim (interior or exterior) shaken loose over time. The door latches and sills are tight. I have had only the usual maintenance done EG: services and brakes. Even the tires lasted 71,000 miles before needing to be changed. The steering and brake pedal are tight when turned or pushed, but in a good way. I would recommend this vehicle to anybody.

Not as reliable as I hoped.
It is a smaller SUV and came with heated leather seats, sun roof, power everything and 4W drive, so I was excited and had high expectations for this car. Unfortunately, my expectations were not met. I have had to have the car in the shop many times and spent more money than I thought I would in maintenance. I had to completely replace the transmission and within 2 weeks had to take the car back into the shop because the transmission was not working right again. In addition, the interior has not help up well. The fabric is peeling from the ceiling and the dash is faded and checking.
The vehicle handles well, but the brakes seem very soft. I really have to push hard on them for a stop.
It is comfortable to drive. The auto start and the heated leather seats are amazing features on those cold and blustery winter days.
As a parent to two small children, the latch system and rear anchor points make installing car seats a snap. Also, the fold down seats allow me to easily fit 8' lumber into the back of the car for the weekend honey-do list projects.

Dependable but Dated
I own a white 2008 Mercury Mariner Premier. I've really enjoyed this SUV for the most part. It is very similar to the Ford Escape (in fact both are built by Ford) but a bit more luxurious than the 2008 Ford Escape. The Premier version I purchased includes a 3.0 Liter V6 which is plenty of power for me - the acceleration and shifting feels quite smooth.
On the exterior it has a luggage rack and hitch - I don't use these often, but they are a nice bonus to the car. Also, being very warm where I live, the light exterior keeps the car fairly cool during hot summer days.
The interior is a nice light beige and gray color scheme with the seats being part leather/part cloth. Bonus features on the interior include 6 disk CD-changer, Aux In, Satellite radio, heated seats, and moon roof.
