Iowa City, IA Driving Tips
Watch out for pedestrians and bikers. Iowa City is very accessible for pedestrians and many students choose to walk to class because of the price of parking. Always respect the right of those on foot and bike. Share the road.

Favorite Driving Memory
My favorite memory of driving in Iowa City is the first time I drove down the Coralville Strip (Highway 6). I drove at night and was amazed by all the businesses and lights that filled the City. The Strip seemed to never end. I was with a group of friends and will never forget the scene that night.

Gilbert Street is great because it drives through the heart of Iowa City. It starts near the University of Iowa and extends through the south end of town near Pleasant Valley Golf Course. It intersects with Highway 6 and has a number of dinning options and local businesses along its path.
Iowa City, IA Driving Tips
My advice to someone who is visiting Iowa City for the first time is to use a GPS system. Even though it's a small city, it has a large city feel. Also, I would want them to know that parking is very difficult to find. On street parking spaces fill up rapidly so don't get discouraged. Also, bring a

Dubuque St is a great road to drive because it goes right past Hancher Auditorium which is a beautiful building. Right now it is undergoing reconstruction and it's fun to watch the progress and know how much more beautiful it will be once the remodeling is completed.

Iowa City, IA Buying Tips
It's difficult as all the makes are not represented in the area. Some of the more premium car manufacturers are more than 100 miles way. That said, the local dealers seem to do a decent job. Most are in Hiawatha.
Favorite Driving Memory
Driving along the river can provide a really scenic drive...Especially in the fall. The leaves around the parks and the sunsets over the farms are breathtaking. Then there is the snow in the winter which makes everything seem so clean and shiny.

It is full of ups and downs as well as twists and turns. This road is tree lined and runs along the river so it has all of the scenery opportunities you would like. Seeing as it runs through a park, it's not accessible all the time, just during park hours, but it is really nice.
