I bought a 2003 Chevy Cavalier two years ago. I wanted a reliable car to get me to/from college and to help with running errands. The car I bought was used by another college student for a similar purchase. It had about 85000 miles on it, but was running great! If you keep up to date on maintenance with it, this car will last a good long while.
Story
This car got my friends and I from Indiana to New York City! We took turns driving through the night. Once in the city, it was perfect because it was small and so old we didn't have to worry about people stealing it or damaging it. So we could park anywhere!
Pros
The greatest thing about this car is how convenient it is. It's a sedan, but has a very spacious interior and large trunk. 4 of my friends and I used this car to go on a road trip, and it had more than enough space to fit our stuff. I've also used it to help carry around large boxes when moving being apartments. It's capacity really helps in this situation. The car is also very reliable. It's 15 years old, and the only thing I've ever seen break on it was the muffler. Finally, for a 2003 this thing has an amazing gas mileage. I'm able to drive from my hometown of Detroit to my college camp... (more)
Cons
Some of the aggravating things about this car just come as a result of its age. The seats are cloth, and kind of worn. The dash is also made of cheap plastic, so it's losing its luster. While driving on the highway, the interior of the car is pretty loud. But honestly the most annoying thing is that this car is from the awkward in-between period of cassette decks and AUX cords. All it has to play music is a CD player and the radio. This means I can't hook up my phone to the car's stereo and play what I want to hear, so I'm forced to listen to horrible radio for hours on end.

The Chevrolet Cavalier is a reliable car with great gas mileage, which is especially appreciated in the current economy (averaging approximately 25 miles per gallon). It has a sleek exterior and, at the time of purchase, had a variety of colors to choose from. The air conditioner runs smoothly and has ABS brakes, day running lights, and front wheel drive. There's enough room in the trunk to store baby strollers, too! The model I own has manual windows and the sound system is sub par, however. The door locks are manual, too, which can be a pain in winter months when you have to search for your keys under multiple layers of clothing. I've also had to have my brake pads replaced multiple times. There are front airbags but according to crash reports the sides are very weak, which makes me... (more)
Story
My wife and I drove to our honeymoon destination in this vehicle. I'll always remember how our family members wrote happy messages on its windows.
