2009 Chevrolet HHR - Great car for your first.

The HHR isn't one of my favorite cars -- more something with wheels in reality. The car isn't the most sturdy or feature-rich, and the luxury features it can have just don't compete.

Story

With it being a fairly common car, there have been many times you see several different colored HHRs stuck in traffic near each other. The HHRainbow so to speak.

Pros

The HHR gets decent gas mileage as long as you keep the oil very well maintained. The systems all seem to stay in good working order without needing checked. With proper care, the car is a very good starter car.

Cons

Lots of road noise, needs to be very well maintained to keep it running smooth/high maintenance, and several recalls that Chevy still couldn't seem to get fixed in the end.

2006 Chevrolet HHR - Tired of retro

I was initially attracted to the retro look of the car. It has running boards and chrome bling on the mirrors and door handles. The inside, however, is fairly plain and plastic. The only upgrade from other trim levels I can figure out is the radio, which has features I don't actually use. The engine is powerful for the size of car, but loud. The transmission seems to search up and down more than other cars I have owned.

Story

When my son drives this car, he always seems to get lost, even going to the grocery store a mile from house (where he has lived for most of his life). But when I go looking for him, he is always easy to spot

Pros

Good gas mileage, better than expected performance for a four banger (2.4 Liter). Versatile interior with fold down seats and SUV style hatch.

Cons

High sill height feels a little claustrophobic. Noisy engine transmission package. The battery is in the back by the spare tire
