Purchased this vehicle as a private sale 4 years ago, In that time the truck has performed excellently. At the time of purchase the truck already had 200,000 miles on the clock, in the 4 years I have owned it I have added 50,000 miles. I have had a few mechanical issues with this truck but they were minor and affordable to fix. The oxygen sensors need to be replaced about every 6 months or the service engine light will illuminate, this does not affect performance until the miles per gallon start to drop. Original MPG for this truck is 17/20. The truck for its age does have a few electrical problems, the radio had to be replaced and the side lights have tendency to fall out of the mountings, this is easily fixed. Performance wise the truck can easily keep up with any normal traffic and ... (more)
Story
After upgrading the wheels on the vehicle to some rare Camaro wheels that fitted correctly, I would get offers from mechanics wanting to buy the truck for restoration. I have refused on many occasion stating that I could never let go of my truck, most have made offers in and around $2000 but I tell them I wont let it go for less than $10.
Pros
This truck is dependable and cheap to fix. 20+ MPG Parts are easily found in most major parts stores
Cons
Rear seats uncomfortable for adults A/C uses older refrigerant, can be expensive to recharge

The Chevy S 10 is a great vehicle to own. It is also fun to drive. Mine is a five speed. I call it a peppy little truck. It is not the top of the luxury line vehicle by any means, but it sure has saved tons of money on gas. It gets almost 20 miles per gallon, around town. On long trips, more like 25-27 miles per gallon. It has a cloth bench seat. It has a standard am/fm radio with cassette player and decent sounding speakers. The windows roll up and down by hand- nothing automatic to go bad and cost more money, in my opinion. It has about 175, 000. The only major trouble has been the timing chain when it broke at 174,000 miles.
Story
My son used this truck to tow a car. It was quite shocking that it was indeed able to!
Pros
My favorite feature in this truck is the reliability. It has been very low maintenance and I am the second owner. Another pro is the gas mileage, for sure.
Cons
It's very small. This is not the vehicle for a large family, or large people. It is not the most comfortable seating for long rides for anyone.

The dealership is friendly and does not rush you into buying anything you don't really want. They were very patient with me, and actually talked about other things then cars, while my bank called back.
