The 2014 Chevy Spark: Worthwhile
The 2014 Spark is a car I wasn't sure I'd like at first. I am not a small man, standing about 6'3", and the Spark is a small car. I was quite surprised to find I fit comfortably in the drivers seat. Since the purchase, I have taken several long trips and had no problems. The car itself is compact, able to fit in parking spaces in crowded cities with no trouble. It also is fairly agile for such a small engine, proving responsive. Make no mistake, though, this car, while functional, is no adventure to drive. The gas mileage, as one would expect in a car of this type, is wonderful. I can often go 320 miles on a $15.00 (USD) fill up. The trade off, of course, is a lack of trunk space. This isn't a car for family trips or camping. A couple, or a single person, could make do. But despite the gas mileage, if you plan to take a lot of road trips you should look elsewhere. On the topic of travel, the car also struggles with steep inclines. A simple hill near my home seems to strain it, and I would hate to see how it preformed in the mountains.

Great gas mileage, dependable
We've put about 16,000 miles on the car since buying it from a private owner about 14 months ago. Started out getting great gas mileage, 39mpg; however, it has dropped recently to about 35 mpg. The car has a manual transmission and is very peppy. The ride is very rough and could probably be improved with different tires. Only repairs needed so far have been replacing the coolant reserve tank, which had a crack and was leaking and replacing the rear brakes. The car is very narrow. The bike hauler we had for our previous car would not fit. The bike would also not fit in the car no matter how hard we tried. Again, the only real major complaint about the car is the rough ride; otherwise, it has performed great.
