Mercury Mariner OWNER RATINGS & REVIEWS

Not as reliable as I hoped.
It is a smaller SUV and came with heated leather seats, sun roof, power everything and 4W drive, so I was excited and had high expectations for this car. Unfortunately, my expectations were not met. I have had to have the car in the shop many times and spent more money than I thought I would in maintenance. I had to completely replace the transmission and within 2 weeks had to take the car back into the shop because the transmission was not working right again. In addition, the interior has not help up well. The fabric is peeling from the ceiling and the dash is faded and checking.
The vehicle handles well, but the brakes seem very soft. I really have to push hard on them for a stop.
It is comfortable to drive. The auto start and the heated leather seats are amazing features on those cold and blustery winter days.
As a parent to two small children, the latch system and rear anchor points make installing car seats a snap. Also, the fold down seats allow me to easily fit 8' lumber into the back of the car for the weekend honey-do list projects.

Totally fits me
My 2005 Mercury Mariner is my favorite car that I have owned. I bought it used but I love the size and the style of the SUV. The look of it is still really good even after being 10 years old. It has great pickup on the highway. Even with a new transmission in it at 90,000 miles it now drives like new. My only dislike is that I feel the sunroof has a bad seal and has to be fixed. It fits comfortably 4 people and still has great trunk space for luggage or shopping trips. I feel completely safe driving it and still looking stylish even for an older car. It does not truly eat gas like other vehicles though it could more a little more fuel efficient. Overall this SUV is truly my favorite vehicle I have ever owned. I would love to be able to get another one like it between the shape, look, feel, driving capabilities of the SUV, space in it and the features it came with.

Awesome SUV
Prior to owning my Mariner, my husband owned a Jeep Grand Cherokee, and I owned a Kia Rio. The Kia was much too small, and I wasn't a fan of the Jeep. The Mariner has everything I would want in a car and more. The heated seats help my back since I have back problems. So it's very comfortable for me to drive. I also couldn't live without the adjustable climate controls for the driver and the passenger. My husband always has the A/C on full blast, so this allows me to have the heat on since I always get cold. I've always wanted a car with an in-dash navigation system, and this has it. I love the Bluetooth in the car as well. I can listen to whatever I want when I stream the music from my phone. I think my favorite part is how large it is inside. We have a Great Dane, so he needs a lot of space when he travels with us. With the Mariner, he's able to stretch out and stand whenever he wants and have ample room. The final benefit is the tow hitch. We're able to hook up a trailer whenever we need to, so it's been great.
