An okay vehicle
If you like a car that will get from Point A to Point B and is not flashy, but it is dependent, you will like the Dodge Caliber. It gets a decent gas mileage of approximately 20 miles per gallon, which gets you back to work and home on a tank of gas each week. However, it can cost nickels and dimes when it is past five years old.

Budget car for a budget experience
I've owned the Caliber for about six years now and the experience hasn't changed much. This model year comes with an interior that feels a bit cheap. Specifically, the dash and interior surfaces have a rough, textured plastic that looks and feels cheap. Over time this surface has proved hard to clean and has also work noticeably on the steering wheel where I contact the wheel. Other styling bits are noticeably better, including glowing cup holders and a "refrigerated" cold compartment above the glove box (actually just an A/C vent in the box, but good for keeping a cold drink cold). Best of all, however, is the cargo space, which is gigantic given the outside dimensions of the vehicle. Performance-wise, the car is still going strong. The CVT that comes standard has required no work and still helps me leap off the line a bit faster than other cars. However, the drive itself, while being efficient, is very boring and doesn't contribute much to the appeal. The car has also held up fairly well with the exception of the suspension, which required a complete replacement of the front end a year ago (~100,000 miles) and will likely require a back end replacement soon. Overall, I'd say the car has provided a moderately comfortable, economical ride at the expense of comfort and durability.
