Eugene, OR Driving Tips
One tip I would give to drivers in this city, watch out for bikes and pedestrians. Working by the University of Oregon campus, I have noticed how relaxed people become to their surrounding and are no longer aware of the cars that are near them, let alone other people. Good rule to live by is that is they do not lock eyes with you, even briefly, assume they do not know you're there.
Eugene, OR Buying Tips
Buying a car in this city is fairly similar to other cities, you will have an easier time getting around if you have a smaller car. Huge trucks and SUV's fit just fine on the road but it does not leave much wiggle room if you need to dive to the side quickly. In addition, compact parking spaces are more prominent in Eugene, especially in the parking garages.
Favorite driving memory
My favorite memory of driving in this city was just learning where things were. About a year after getting my drivers license, my mom told me to just talk a drive through Eugene by myself, there's no better way to learn a city than to get lost in it. I specifically remember driving out the west 11th area, no specific destination in mind, knowing that if I truly had no idea where I was, I could just call home (this was before map use on phones). The first time I drove out there, I was cautious, just driving straight until the road left the city and then turned around to head back. Little by little I would explore side roads and alternate routes. Sometimes I got to areas that seemed a bit unsafe, but I would just turn around and remember to avoid that area again unless it was necessary. Eventually I wandered around other areas of Eugene and started feeling confident enough to, not only know where I was going, but know alternate routes if I needed to get around traffic jams or avoid construction. Getting lost in certain areas of a city may not be the safest idea for every city but it gave me a better sense of direction, I am able to provide clear driving directions to others that may need help finding places, and I feel more confident in my driving abilities.
Favorite road
Willamette Street. Willamette Street is my personal favorite because it stretches across varies types of properties. Starting in the bustling urban downtown area by the Willamette River, running through commercial businesses, both big corporations and locally owned, and then ending in a more rural area of Eugene, surrounded by nature and huge trees that Oregon is known for. From Skinner's Butte to Spencer's Butte you don't get bored of the scenery.

Eugene, OR Driving Tips
I would suggest to someone who has never driven in Eugene to drive without distractions. It is so easy to get lost if you don't know your way around and any kind of distractions can make it so you miss an exit and it can be difficult to fix your route if you do that.
Eugene, OR Buying Tips
There are a lot of car dealerships in Eugene. There is a large stretch of them next to Valley River Mall so you can easily access those if you are already shopping. I would suggest going to dealer websites to look at their inventory first. There are a lot of people selling their cars on craigslist in this area but you never know what you are going to get. I would always suggest going to a dealer instead because then the car has been checked over.
Favorite driving memory
My favorite memory of driving in this city is from a couple of years ago. I had never driven there before because it has fast paced roads so I always had someone drive me. I also get lost easily. After being in this city many times I know how to get to the major mall. There are multiple busy roads that you have to take to get to the mall and I drove there before they redid the routes (it's a lot easier now). I was able to drive to the mall and then leave town after I shopped without getting lost or panicking over the very busy roads. This is a favorite memory because driving in Eugene has always scared me and I was so happy that I finally did it.
Favorite road
Coburg Road. The reason I like to drive this road is because it is the fastest route to places. It is a busy road but it is basically the only way to get any where. If you try to take side streets to a place to skip this busy road, it can take two to three times as long. It is set up in a way that lets you get to multiple places quickly which is they type of road I prefer to drive on.
