The Ford Focus 5-Door hatchback is a good little car for small families and most day-to-day tasks. It comfortably carries my family of 3 plus a dog in the back storage area and is comfortable for cross country trips. The car is easy on the fuel: I was able to drive 400 miles on a single fill up (11 gallon capacity) and with two adults, a child, and dog in the car, nobody is wanting for space. Special Features, like electric adjustable seats, driving modes, and entertainment options are sparse, but the average driver won't miss them. One troubling feature of this generation of the Ford Focus was the early implementation of the double clutch transmission, which -while driving like an automatic- feels choppy and unstable. Ford fixed the issue later at the dealership for free, and it might not be an issue for the future years, but it is something to be aware of. All in all, it's a good little car that will do the basics needed by the casual driver, and aside from standard servicing, has not been needing for much.
