2002 Honda Civic - Reliable car
The 2002 Honda Civic is a small, compact car. I have driven it for many years and have a accumulated over 180,000 miles on it. There is no extra maintenance other than typical wear down of a near car. The inside has cheap fabric, but it is an excellent car for a first-time car owner or younger adult. There is a standard radio with a CD slot in it but no digital displays. The front is plenty roomy and the back is smaller, but that seems typical of smaller cars. It has gotten me to school on 400 miles a week for two years now.
Historia
I remember taking myself and my friends to our senior graduation night in a town about 20 miles away since I was the only one with a car at the time. I usually used my car for school activities with friends back in the day, which was fun.
A Favor
The vehicle is small enough to fit into compact parking spaces, which can come in handy. It is a very reliable car that has been running for 16 years. I can fit a bike mount on the back of the car and have carried two bikes with it. The trunk is plenty wide and deep for storing things. The back seats go down completely in case you need to carry something larger; you just need the key to open the latch to them. The car can get up to 385 miles on a full tank when I use it for commuting and maybe around 300 or so when driving in the city.
En Contra
There is no fancy technology in the car since it was made back in 2001. There is not auxiliary cable for audio nor any digital displays. There are no control buttons on the steering wheel, like newer cars may have. Over the years, the exhaust had a corroded pipe, which was easily fixed by a mechanic. The radiator gave out after 15 years and had to be replaced/fixed. The paint on my car was black, but after being in the sun so long and never detailed or waxed, the outer layer of paint has been flaking off for a few years and the car paint looks patchy.
2008 Honda Civic - Strong, reliable, good on gas.
Initially, I just wanted a car that was okay on performance but strong in reliability and fuel economy. After doing some research, looking at reviews, and getting advice from trusted family members, I decided to look at the Honda Civic series. I was able to get a 2008 Civic at a good price and it's been my car since 2012. I tell everyone that my next car will also be a Honda Civic.
Historia
I was never a can of the sun roof, and my Civic has one. I actually never used it prior to one summer where I went to the beach quite frequently. A friend asked me why I never used it and I replied that I didn't know. We opened the sun roof and cruised down the highway, feeling like we were in a movie.
A Favor
The car looks pretty unassuming from the outside, but it actually has quite a bit of features that suit my needs. For example, there are two AC charger ports in the car as well as an easily accessible AUX cord. I don’t prefer leather seats which makes the cloth seats all that much more comfortable. As mentioned before, the fuel economy is great and Honda has a strong reputation for being reliable. Aside from issues outside my control, the vehicle functions extremely smoothly. I am a big fan of the overall design of the car.
En Contra
As reliable as the car is, or was made out to be, there were definitely some parts that needed maintenance. Multiple times, the battery terminals have shown corrosion due to leaking battery acid from two different batteries. This was easily fixed by a mechanic, but has been a reoccurring issue. Also, the visors on the driver and front passenger sides have weakened over time and seem to get lower and lower from their fully horizontal position. Again, easily fixed by reordering a new part and replacing it myself. Lastly, the car seems to struggle when I want to speed up very quickly. Althoug... (more)
