This is a sturdy car, made well. If it is maintained, this car runs well. The body is made well, and the gas mileage is average. It has a good engine. It drives well, and I feel safe in it. The air conditioner and heater work fine. The seats could be made of better material and are coming apart at the seams. The back door window to the trunk area leaks a little when it rains. Auto locks could be safer for the kids.

My first experience with a 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe was with a rental. Because we liked its performance, ease of use, build quality and decent gas mileage for a car of its size, we decided to buy one ourselves as a second car. We opted for used because we saw good long term reviews and decided to save on the cost of buying new. It has lots of space for our bags. Lots of space even for pet carriers, too. We like to travel with our cats so this was important for us. We also like the fold-out and removable seat in the rear luggage area. On six hour trips the ride is still comfortable, including both the seats and the suspension. Steering is responsive and easy to turn despite being an SUV. Acceleration is good, which is necessary in Houston rush hour commutes. Gas mileage, again, is decent, at 25 mpg on the highway. Even with the A/C, screens and other electronic gadgets running it's still good. It also feels very sturdy and well-built when driving, much better than similar Japanese vehicles we have tried. We would definitely recommend the Hyundai Santa Fe to others.
