The Jeep Grand Cherokee with the 4.0 liter inline 6 is a great affordable off road vehicle. The aftermarket has tons of available parts and you can customize the car with whatever you like. Although some say this vehicle is not reliable, I found mine to have very few major problems. The A/C condenser drained inside the vehicle, which did cause a major problem, but I was able to fix this myself. You can find these with less than 100K miles for a reasonable price. I would expect to pay around four thousand dollars for a great condition Grand Cherokee of this year with low miles. I recommend the Limited trim as it has leather and many power options. It is very well equipped for the price. For another thousand dollars or so, you can put a lift and find some off road tires to have a really good looking capable off road vehicle. The paint on these does not hold up well over time though. The paint on the trim was pretty well worn off. To me this is a little setback. I found I got really great mileage on the highway but not so great around town. On the highway I was able to get almost 26 miles per gallon. In the city I got as poor as 16 miles per gallon sometimes. I think this is because of a relatively large engine, and all wheel drive.
