Undependable. Very unhappy with Nissan!
I dislike the fact that the transmission went out at 129,000 miles. Nine miles out of the warranty where Nissan would have paid for me a replacement transmission. They wouldn't pay for a penny of it. Gas mileage was good when I first bought the car, but now that I purchased a brand new transmission, the gas mileage is at least six MPG worse! Also, the struts went out right after I bought the car. I feel like that was way too soon.

Known for transmission failure
I really liked this car when I first got it. The gas mileage was really good, and the vehicle was dependable. The price was decently cheap. I could whip right into the small parking spaces when shopping! The trunk area is pretty roomy. We were able to go halfway across the USA for a few days with four people in the car. Not a fun trip, but we managed. The only thing I initially disliked was the fact that the seats were hard and a bit uncomfortable. Shortly after buying, the struts went bad, so I heard constant clinking when turning the wheel. Within six months of paying off the car, the transmission went out. My car had a continuously variable transmission (CVT), which has a reputation for failing. Nissan had doubled the warranty for my particular car because of the hefty number of complaints by Versa owners. My car was 9,000 miles over the doubled warranty, so Nissan wouldn't put a penny towards helping me replace my transmission. Maybe had I took less care for my car, the transmission would have went out sooner and Nissan would have had to get me a new, free transmission. Bad luck, that's what I have.
