The 2.4L engine gives decent gas mileage, hitting about 21 mpg on the highway and 18 in the city. It has enough power to get you out of the way quickly, and to traverse small obstacles with ease. The ground clearance is a bonus. Will carry up to five passengers with stadium seating. The seats let down to make the most of the cargo hold. This vehicle has lasted 15 years through 4 kids and has only had to have regular maintenance and minor repairs such as belts and hoses and a thermostat. It's my everyday vehicle and I will drive it until it falls apart. When it does, I would buy another Xterra in a heartbeat.
