Anything but a 'Saab Story'
The 1999 Saab 9-5 represents the first year of the newly designed relaunch. As you make your way into the newer models of this vehicle, you find many of the typical Saab 'quirks' erased and replaced with bland and (often times) faulty GM components. This is not the case with the 1999 9-5. It feels like a Swedish machine- good performance and the low-boost turbo does not overpower the vehicle. You have enough pep to maneuver on the road, but not so much that you put additional stress on the turbo and expose yourself to a costly repair. The interior is roomy and the seats are unlike anything you've ever experienced in an automobile. When the time comes to send my Saab off to Valhalla, I might remove the seats and place them in my living room as a fond and comfortable reminder of my good times spent behind the wheel of my fine Swedish machine.

Born from jets, this car is amazing!
The car has performed superbly. I have had zero issues and beyond regular maintenance, such as oil changes or replacing brake pads I have had to spend a total of $23.11 For a new side mounted turn indicator that had cracked and dry rotted. I drive her daily and I've chalked up over 45K miles so far. She is comfortable and very sturdy; the leather seats don't sag or crack, there is no cracking in any of the interior components and everything works as well as the day I bought her. The audio is a dream with 13 speakers and perfect clarity. The car handles well and the turbo charged engine is so fun to drive on the highway. I get great mileage (36MPG on the highway and 30MPG around town) and all of this in a sporty European sedan. The suspension is good, not great, but good. It keeps you firm planted in the corners but can be a little rough in city driving. I've noticed a ton of little quirky gadgets inside as well. There's a built-in ice scraper in the center console next to the ignition and the cup holder in the dash gives me giggles every time I see it. It's so futuristic. The rear seat is comfortable and fits two large adults well. There's a ton of hidden storage throughout the car and it's great for holding business cards or any papers you might need to keep handy. Finally, the best feature of the car: It comes in a stick manual transmission instead of those stupid flappy paddles on the steering wheel.
