2008 Toyota Prius - Toyota Prius: the most practical option.
The Toyota Prius is a reliable car to get used, specifically models in 2008. It is not the flashiest car and does not have the greatest add ons or luxury options, but it is a reliable car with great gas mileage. I would recommend a Prius to anyone who doe snot need a large truck and does not mind being in sedan-sized cars. It has a surprising amount of room in the car and in the trunk, and since it is a hatchback, it can be arranged to make a variety of accommodations. This is a car that lasts a very long time and does not require excessive repairs. Hybrids can be difficult because mechanics are not well versed enough in the in order to fix them in emergency situations, which makes them difficult to have for long distance driving or long roads trips. Hybrids can be difficult because mechanics are not well versed enough in the in order to fix them in emergency situations, which makes them difficult to have for long distance driving or long roads trips. They do very well in the city and are great at maneuvering around tight spaces. They are also reliable cars on the highway and have good pick up for a four-cylinder car. Beware that you can notice when the car is full of people or equipment versus when it is empty because the pick up changes based on how much weight is in the car. Overall, I recommend this car to anyone.
I fit an entire pet wellness clinic kit, which normally takes a whole truck into the Prius!

This car gets excellent gas mileage and does not take a lot of gas. My gas bill is never over $25 (for about eight gallons), and I can go at least 350 miles without needing to fill up. It maneuvers around cars and trucks both in the city and on the highway amazingly, and I am never worried about my ability to steer or get myself into or out of a tight spot. There are no blind spots when driving. I also love how much room is in such a small car. I can fit almost anything I need and that includes a tons of supplies for whatever I need to do. I have moved two times with this car and not a moving truck and have had minimal issues fitting everything in. I enjoy the look of the car as well and the reputation it has for being environmentally friendly. The car is extremely quiet when you are driving too and does not make a lot of noise at any time. The screen for climate and audio is also very convenient. There are buttons to control the radio and the temperature on the steering wheel as well. I love that I do not even have to look to change the radio station or to put on the defroster. The defroster works amazing, and I never have to worry about having fogged up windows when it is cold or raining. The car also heats up and cools down in record time.
Having a hybrid makes it difficult to manage routine maintenance. Many mechanics do not understand hybrid cars, and I had an emergency when the car starting beeping and telling me to shut it down and stop driving on a Sunday afternoon. There was no one in the area who knew how to fix a hybrid car, and so I had to bring it to a specialist the next business day. This was extremely inconvenient for me, and I hope with time mechanics will learn how to fix hybrid cars easily. There is also no obvious indication of the battery, and so I once drained the battery by leaving the radio and the car o... (more)

There is also no obvious indication of the battery, and so I once drained the battery by leaving the radio and the car on. I needed to give the car an hour to juice up again, and it was fine without intervention, but it was a scary situation as the car would not start. Having an indicator that the battery is dying would avoid this from happening. The rear window is shaped in a way that it is very difficult to get used to seeing out of it. It made me uneasy driving at first, but once I got used to it, I was very comfortable. Very short or very tall people may have more difficulty getting adjusted to it. I wish that this vehicle had an aux jack. It has AC adapters which help but an aux jack or Bluetooth technology would be a much better feature for this vehicle.
2003 Toyota Prius - A perfect car for commuters
When I first got this car 5 years ago I had my doubts - it didn't look very sturdy, and I'd heard so many jokes about Priuses and their lack of performance. But this has turned out to be by far the best car I have ever owned/driven. The mileage is fantastic - I have a very long commute and work 6 days a week, but only have to fill up once every other week, and it only takes 25 dollars for a full tank, which my wallet really appreciates. I've put over 180,000 miles on this car, in snow and rain and desert, and it still runs great - with routine maintenance, it continues to perform just as well as when I first started driving it. The compact nature of the car is extremely convenient as well - it has plenty of room on the inside for friends, dogs, and practically living out of my car, but... (more)

The compact nature of the car is extremely convenient as well - it has plenty of room on the inside for friends, dogs, and practically living out of my car, but the car can fit into the tiniest parallel parking spaces, which is a big bonus since I'm terrible at it. I love the way it handles - makes turns easily, isn't too jerky on the brakes, and doesn't slip and slide too much in nasty weather. The interior is comfortable, I like that it's got cloth seats so that summer days don't result in me getting burned by hot leather. It's got all the important parts of a car without any excessive bells and whistles - I'll be driving Priuses for as long as I can.
I love seeing other matching cars - mine is a unique color and since it's an older model, it's rare to see the exact same car on the road. But every once in a while I'll find myself driving beside an identical Prius on the highway, and we always smile and wave.

I'm in love with the fuel economy and the size. It allows me to park in pretty much any parking space, make tight turns, and not have to fill up excessively even though I drive a ton. It's great for my wallet.

I'd say the only negative is that it can get a bit loud, but that's to be expected with a car that's 13 years old and has over 180,000 miles on it.
