Great commute vehicle
I really like the curves of this car its a really nice 4-door. It seems to be aero dynamic by the look of the car. The car was actually really comfortable as well as easy to keep clean. We were able to fit a lot in it, doesn't look very big from the outside but very roomy inside. The trunk is HUGE and you can fit a lot in it. I set the mirrors so there really wasn't much of a blind spot. Maybe a little one looking out the back passenger side but other than that good car to see all around you while driving. This car was not in the shop very often at all until it hit about 180,000. And before that it was routine maintenance breaks, oil change, and all other fluids checked. I put new tires on it but the ones that came with it lasted quite a long time. But I put some 100,000 mile all season tires on it that really helped the handling in all the seasons especially the winter. Costs were fair and the gas mileage was incredible. That was one of the biggest selling points to me was that it got about 36 miles to the gallon, and at the time I was commuting back and fourth to college so it was very cost effective. It was a nice little car to drive, handling was a little better after new tires but all in all a very safe car which I felt comfortable driving my kids back and fourth in it.

Favorite Car Ever
I absolutely love this vehicle. One of my favorite things is the way it rides. It is so smooth and quiet. You feel like you are silently gliding down the street. Sometimes I have to double check to make sure that it's on because you can barely hear anything. I also really like the exterior design of the Beetle - it's quirky and fun, but also smooth and refined, much like the interior! The interior electronics give the car a luxury feel, and the seats are made of quality materials and include seat heaters. It's one of the comfiest vehicles I have owned. It's a small car, but it's also pretty roomy on the inside -- kind of like the TARDIS from Doctor Who! I can easily fit myself, 4 friends, and our bags for a weekend trip, or if I'm headed to the vet's office, I can easily fit my entire ferret cage in the back for stress-free animal travel! The gas mileage is also great. I can put $15 in the tank and drive for a week!

Dependable, cramped transportation
I bought a used VW Beetle from a friend because I needed dependable, inexpensive transportation. It was an utter no-frills, army-green VW Beetle. It was dependable in warm weather, though it had trouble starting in the very cold winters of the Northeast. Also, the heater left a lot to be desired on cold mornings: it was like trying to warm a small room with a blow dryer and heating the windshield took a while, believe me. The car was fun to drive, zipping in traffic and easily parked in small spaces. However, the controls in the car were so tiny and everything else about the car was so tiny that it seemed like a toy car. There was no beating that car for gas mileage. I'm not one to pore over figures for exact gas mileage but I noticed on a cross-country trip that I got about 30 miles to the gallon in that old thing! It seemed to drive forever on a tank of gas. I had that car for about 4 years and it was certainly worth the $800 I paid my friend for it. Eventually, I was doing better financially and traded it in when I bought my Honda Accord. I believe I got $150 for it in the trade-in.

They had a lot of program cars and most of them were relatively inexpensive. The lobby was clean and there were lots of free beverages.
