I wish it had four wheel drive, but it runs well and gets better mileage on the highway than on the road. The vehicle is in good condition. It needs some work on the engine. The struts need to be replaced and the wheels need to be aligned. It needs new wheel bearings. It has a crack on the windshield that I will have to replace because I bought it as is. It is a beautiful royal blue color with tinted windows that are great at keeping out heat in the summer. I would buy a newer Ford in the future since I really enjoy driving and riding in this one.
Story
I drove my neighbors kids to the Dairy Queen and there was enough room for all of them,
Pros
It is roomy and gets good mileage on the highway. It gives me a better view of the road. You can lay the back seats down and get extra room.
Cons
It uses more gas on the road than other vehicles of this size. It needs a lot of maintenance.

The 2006 Ford Explorer is a great family car that has a roomy interior and lots of additional storage capacity. The 3rd row seating can be folded up or down to accommodate extra passengers or make room for larger storage. Maintenance has been a breeze and very affordable since this is one of the best selling models of cars ever, so spare parts are plentiful and the car itself is easy to work on. You save on parts and labor time whether you do it yourself or have a shop do the maintenance.
Story
We've used this vehicle on multiple road trips and vacations to Myrtle Beach, SC., Orlando, FL., and Minnesota to name just a few. The vehicle is roomy enough for us to bring our dog and give him his own space.
Pros
Great towing capacity that we use to tow a pretty big {6000 lbs} pop-up plus 4 passengers plus cargo/luggage. I've used this vehicle for multiple vacations in locations in excess of 1,000 miles and have every confidence in the reliability of this vehicle to get me and my family to our destination safely.
Cons
It doesn't seem to like cold weather a whole lot since every once in a while in freezing weather the air bag light will come on. After warming up it goes off on its own, but it's a tad bit annoying. The same goes for the tire PSI indicator that naturally comes on when there is colder weather, but after driving a bit to warm up the tires it goes off.

When I went to the dealer I had my kids with me. They did not pressure me in to buying the car. They were friendly to the kids. They respected the space I needed to make my own decisions. When I had questions they had the answer I needed. They also let me take my car to my own mechanic so I could have it tested
