Even as a woman I enjoy driving trucks and so it was not a surprise to anyone that I purchased my F150xl. It is a great truck that I plan to drive until one of us gives up. I am thinking that with now over 265k miles on it and still running strong, it may be me that doesn't make it. Reliability is important to me and I have not had any major issues with my F150. It has taken me through Texas hot summers and icy winters with only minor and expected issues. Considering it’s age and the trials I have put it through, I am very happy with it. Probably the only things that I would correct would be some upgrades that I have done since purchasing it. I swapped out the plastic radiator for a metal one and places better shocks on it for improved rear traction. These were easily done and more for... (more)
Story
We have an annual Fourth of July event in our small town on the lake. Since the city doesn't supply music, my kids and I head on down to the edge of the water, turn on some patriotic music that we keep for just this occasion and set up lawn chairs to watch the fireworks. Others have learned to watch for the truck for some good music, great company and cold drinks. Ford and fireworks, good times.
Pros
While the model I purchased was minus many of the bells and whistles, it suited my purposes to a T and allows me to haul and tow to my hearts content. I love the simple but handsome interior, the hard working back end and the feeling that I have of independence that it gives me. I enjoy camping and the hiking so the all-wheel drive is handy in rough terrain when finding base camp, and the cargo area and extended cab leave plenty of space for all my necessities, plus a friend or two. The V6 engine gives me plenty of power, while still providing passable fuel economy.
Cons
The O2 sensors in this engine is placed in the middle and is hard to get at to clean. This only has to be done every 100k miles or so, so I'm guessing most people might never notice. It has come up a couple of times for me though. The plastic radiators tend to split at junction points so I replaced mine as I am a believer in metal parts. Otherwise I would say there are very few cons. Keep in mind this is from a high mileage vehicle.

I love this truck. I really enjoy sitting up high while driving and being able to see around me clearly. So far, we have not had any major issues with our Ford. The back passenger side door lock became broken shortly after we purchased the truck, but the deal was quick to fix the problem and replace the locking mechanism. We drove the truck from Texas to Maryland and back again this past summer, and it handled the trip really well. We are in love with the moon roof and sun roof. The kids really enjoy how much room they have in the back seat. There is a lot of storage under the back seats, and I love how they fold up so you can transport something large inside the cab.
Story
We had a great camping trip this past summer. We filled the bed of the truck with all the essentials, tent, sleeping bags, wood, cooler, and headed out. It was amazing how much we could fit in the bed of the truck, and the kids still had leg room in the cab. We stayed two nights and were able to take everything we needed without having to fill the cab of the truck too. I love the light in ... (more)
Pros
The super crew cab is very roomy and great for our growing kids. The navigation system has come in handy quite a few times, very helpful. I love the back-up camera; it makes parking such a large truck a breeze. The tailgate step is a very nice touch. As we are getting older, it is nice to have the ability to have the handle and step to get up into the bed.
Cons
I do miss the extra 6th seat in the front like our old Dodge Ram had. It was nice when we had an extra kid with us. I do wish that the spare tire was a full-size tire and not just a small spare.

At the time I was shopping for this vehicle, I did not think I would be approved. While I wanted another vehicle, they got me approved for this one with a pretty good rate and payment, considering my credit score. All of the staff was great compared to other dealers in San Angelo. And, years down the road, I am glad this is the car they got me approved on. My payment is low, and it saves me money on gas.
