This is a very reliable car. It requires very little maintenance. It gets great gas mileage. I haven't had any expensive repairs in the seven years I've owned it. Other than oil changes, a tune up and a new battery, I haven't had to spend money on this car. It runs smoothly and is quiet, even on the freeway. The exterior paint finish still looks new. It cleans easily and stays glossy. It doesn't look 12 years old. The chassis is nice and not rusty.
Pros
The best things about the vehicle are the reliability. Starts immediately every time, even in cold and snowy conditions. It gets great gas mileage. It runs smoothly, is very low maintenance, and economical to own and run. It has a few safety features, such as seat belts and airbags. It has air conditioning that still works well. The trunk can hold a lot for such a small car. It can seat five but would be pretty tight in the back seat.
Cons
It doesn't have a wiper on the rear window. It doesn't have a fob for keyless entry and locking. It doesn't have electronic door locks or windows. That is why it was so cheap! There are some blind spots that can be annoying, and the side view mirrors don't always make up for that. It only has driver and passenger airbags. It doesn't have heated seats. Doesn't have a GPS or very good stereo system or speakers.

2004 Ford Focus - l like it.

Overall I like the car, it has excellent gas mileage, handles quite well, and has enough room for what I use it for. The price I paid was good and the overall value is quite high. I opted for a two door version so I could control egress from the rear seat to better protect the children. There are a few things that I either do not like or that I feel could have been better designed. The body design is such that when glancing back from the driver's window to ascertain safe maneuvering distance, your vision is partially blocked by the upswing in the car's rear window threshold and the flare up of the body itself. It hampers visibility and is annoying. I also find it detrimental that the wipers do not have an adjustable delay function. Where I live there are often times when the wipers mus... (more)
Story
My youngest son used my car to visit a friend, They went out for a drink in a nearby town where someone with a large, high bodied truck managed to back into the front of my car. Now my car has a smile as it goes down the road. Since I'm more interested in performance than looks, it doesn't bother me much.
Pros
Gas mileage, steering ability, cornering and ease of driving are what led me to buy it.
Cons
Poor visibility when looking to the rear, wiper speed setting, and warm-up time are the only features I do not like.
