Overall, I like this car. Now the interior is pretty basic, and mine came with manual controls for the seats and windows. Nothing fancy on the dashboard, but really I don't need anything fancy. It performs well for a small car, having a little bit of pep to it. It gets good gas mileage on the highway, close to 40 miles per gallon. I use it for a lot of highway driving, and that is very good.
Story
I took it camping once and draped a large tarp over the back with the hatch open, so in my makeshift tent, I could access the inside of the vehicle--and that was quite handy. I live in the Northeast, and we quite often go camping or enjoy outdoor activities, and the storage space is great for bringing my gear.
Pros
I have the hatchback version, so when I lay the seats back and open the hatch, I can really get a lot of items in there. For work I transport a lot of boxes of our product, and I need the space to put that in. I also enjoy the fuel economy that this car gets. I have a manual transmission, and I like how it shifts. I enjoy having manual transmissions in my vehicles. I also like the shape and style of it, and the rims are actually decent for an economy car.
Cons
The interior is a bit Spartan, but that's okay for me. The manual windows and manual seat controls can be a bit cumbersome. You get what you pay for, and I did buy an economy car knowing this. I also don't care for the bright yellow color, but that's what you get when you buy used car.

Overall this car has been dependable and the gas mileage is amazing. I bought this car used and wish I had gone with different make. I heard Fords were great until something went wrong and that sums up my experience with this vehicle. It has cost me a lot to repair and maintain this vehicle. I have had problems with the transmission and brakes. I previously owned a Saab which had over 300,000 miles on it when I sold it. I will be lucky to get 200,000 out of this Ford. My father is a mechanic and warned me not to buy this car, but at the time it was what was available in my price range. I had read mixed reviews on the Focus and decided to purchase due to the gas mileage. I drive 70 or more miles a day for my job and hate buying gas!
Story
I love driving on the country roads in the summer. One of our favorite drives is an ice cream place that is about 40 miles from us and is in a very remote location. Its one of those places that is so good its worth driving an hour to get there and the drive is part of the fun. Due to the great mileage this car gets it is easy to make the drive for delicious homemade Rum Raisin or Almond Joy ic... (more)
Pros
The gas mileage is great and the car is comfortable. It looks nice and when it is running good it runs great.
Cons
The transmission is a problem and I have read reviews where other owners have had the same problems. It sometimes feels like it doesn't go into gear correctly. I have gotten used to just shifting the automatic transmission manually. My old Saab mechanic recommended I try this to compensate for the poor performance. This seems to work, but it just doesn't make me feel like the car works as it should.
