This car handles extremely well and rides extremely well on the highway. Almost like a full size car or luxury automobile. The fit and finish is good with nice ergonomics and details really nice when I clean it, it always looks like it's brand new again!! Plenty of power with great fuel efficiency.
Story
Last year I had someone run a stop sign in front of me and I hit him. The guy took off and I ended up chasing him down in my busted up car. Take a lickin' and keeps on tickin'!! Also, my girlfriend's dad laughed when I told him I was going to fit his big party tent in my car and drive it away. I folded the seats down, put it all in with room to spare and turned around to smile at him!!
Pros
The inline 5 cylinder motor is a great combination of power and fuel efficiency. It gets up and goes like you wouldn't believe and if you shift fast it will squeal the tires into second gear. It's considered a compact car but has enough room for me and my 3 kids. The seats fold down and when people laugh when I explain what I'm going to haul something with, I get the last laugh as I drive away loaded with 2 X 4's or a big party tent in my Jetta!!!
Cons
The clutch seems to make a noise now that I have 25,000 miles on it. It's faint and you can only hear it if the radio is off. The rear brake rotors are grooved and it makes a lot of noise first thing in the morning. They put very low quality rotors on it from the factory. The tire pressure monitoring light is sporadically coming on for the first time in 18 months for no reason.

My third Jetta. Reasonable power, comfortable, great space. I never had any passengers complain ( leather trim interior) and as the driver it is one of the most driver friendly cars I owned. Handling has been great, handles even better at higher speeds. It's a pleasure to have on the open road. I've driven it cross country twice and it has always felt reliable. Interior dashboard is simple, sleek and user friendly. Shifting can be manual or automatic. Adequate trunk space, flip down seats, 4-door. It's a little longer than the early 2000 Jetta's...Feels more like a mid sedan vs. smaller sport version sedan.
Story
Weekly trips to the park with my dog and once a week I vacuum the car which is made easy by the leather interior and split rear seats.
Pros
Highway handling is smooth, response is crisp, drives incredibly well using cruise control on long stretches. Monsoon sound system is fantastic. It's a reasonably quiet car and it keeps out exterior sound well so when it comes to music it's like being in a theater. I love listening to music in my car.
Cons
Torque could be better - I would not mind a little more punch for the release but it's a fast enough car.
