A reliable car with some fun to be had but build quality needs to improve.
The 2011 Ford Fusion is a very reliable car overall. After 100,000 miles in six years, it has been rock solid reliable. The styling is a bit dated, as this is prior to the Aston Martin inspired grille but still looks good. Especially with the optional spoiler on the trunk lid, it presents an attractive profile from all angles. The automatic transmission has proven good but has often had sporadic stutters, especially on braking at moderate speeds. This hasn’t resulted in any stalling and isn’t so severe as to risk an accident. However, it makes me worry about how the transmission will fare as the miles continue to mount. Some of the trim has not held up well. The headliner started to come away from the roof after 70,000 miles in just one spot. The rubber trim around the trunk lid is also loose and often needs to be pushed back onto the mounting edge.

Always reliable, pretty stylish.
The Fusion has been a great car for me. I decided to purchase new, and the car has been nothing but reliable. I have never had any issues with the vehicle outside of typical maintenance. The interior and exterior redesign over the previous generations is without question the greatest aspect of the car. The gas mileage is nothing to laugh at either. On long trips I typically see around 31 to 32 mpg driving like someone who has somewhere to be. In the future I would probably buy lightly used just because the residual value on these cars seems to be particularly poor. That being said, after three and a half years and 70K miles, I have come to adore this car and still glad I made the purchase. The only downside for me is that I didn't decide to go with the titanium and enjoy the six-cylinder version. Ford has really stepped up their game when it comes to making an accountable car. I was split between this or a Camry and am so happy with my choice. The styling of this model blew Camry out of the water when I was shopping for my first adult car.
