Ford Fusion Owner Ratings & Reviews

2011 Ford Fusion - A reliable car with some fun to be had but build quality needs to improve.
The 2011 Ford Fusion is a very reliable car overall. After 100,000 miles in six years, it has been rock solid reliable. The styling is a bit dated, as this is prior to the Aston Martin inspired grille but still looks good. Especially with the optional spoiler on the trunk lid, it presents an attractive profile from all angles. The automatic transmission has proven good but has often had sporadic stutters, especially on braking at moderate speeds. This hasn’t resulted in any stalling and isn’t so severe as to risk an accident. However, it makes me worry about how the transmission will fare as the miles continue to mount. Some of the trim has not held up well. The headliner started to come away from the roof after 70,000 miles in just one spot. The rubber trim around the trunk lid is als... (more)
Story
As a front-wheel drive, it works very well in bad weather. One very cold day, I sat and watched several cars and SUVs attempt a nasty ice-covered hill, with almost none of them able to make it. A couple of big, tough trucks attempted and failed, having to slide dangerously back down the hill. Then it was my turn. A couple of bad spots where I spun my wheels for a few seconds, but I felt amazin... (more)
Pros
The car continues to be very reliable with no problems starting even on the coldest of mornings and running extremely smoothly. Despite the occasional shudders with the automatic transmission, it mostly feels very smooth. It'll never be a sports car, but it still handles reasonable tautly around corners and can take sharp turns with surprising agility. It's not inspiring, but it can be fun nonetheless. It continues to be handsome without succumbing to the angry aggressive look so prevalent today.
Cons
The little trim items continue to annoy. The headliner and the rubber trim around the trunk lid. If you drive solo most of the time, you'll also get irritated by the front passenger seatbelt. Every time someone rides in the front, the seatbelt will settle into a position after they take it off where it rattles against the side pillar. Easily fixed by a quick twist, but it's just annoying.
2014 Ford Fusion - Always reliable, pretty stylish.
The Fusion has been a great car for me. I decided to purchase new, and the car has been nothing but reliable. I have never had any issues with the vehicle outside of typical maintenance. The interior and exterior redesign over the previous generations is without question the greatest aspect of the car. The gas mileage is nothing to laugh at either. On long trips I typically see around 31 to 32 mpg driving like someone who has somewhere to be. In the future I would probably buy lightly used just because the residual value on these cars seems to be particularly poor. That being said, after three and a half years and 70K miles, I have come to adore this car and still glad I made the purchase. The only downside for me is that I didn't decide to go with the titanium and enjoy the six-cylind... (more)
Story
Nothing beats cruising through Nashville with the windows down and some beats playing through these decent quality speakers. Keep it clean and people will compliment how nice it seems for being a sedan that isn't ridiculously expensive.
Pros
By far the top thing has to be the styling of this car. The exterior looks particularly sleek for being a mid-size sedan. After tinting the windows, this car look sharp when paired with the fancier white color. The interior seems strange to some passengers, but I absolutely love it. I opted for the version with the larger touchscreen display and that rear view camera is amazing! The ride quality and sound is fantastic.
Cons
The only negative things I have experienced with this car is a recent issue I had where it told me engine temp was too high, and the speed would reduce to cool it. I was already braking when this occurred. I should note I had previously been in cruise control going 83 mph on a road trip. Since the issue occurred, I have been watching the temp gauge just to be safe, but even during the period of time this occurred, it was steady where it always is on the digital display. I assume this was a buggy computer glitch but plan to get it checked out just in case.
