Ford Taurus Owner Ratings & Reviews

2008 Ford Taurus - I am glad that I bought it.
I am really glad that I bought the vehicle. I actually got a really good deal and just happened to come upon it as the dealership as it was closing. I did research for the vehicle before I purchased it. It had the safety features that I was interested in. Leather seats, steering wheel radio control and smart phone hook up through speakers. These were great features in 2008. It was in black, which was what I was looking for. It didn't have the fuel mileage benefit that was being offered, but it wasn't that bad. Overall, it was pretty good based upon the description. Over the years, I am glad that I stumbled upon the car on the evening. It was used, and it has just under 19,000 miles in 2008, so I was concerned that it could be a lemon. I have driven the vehicle for almost 10 ... (more)
Story
I was able to drive 10 hours in the car when it was on the brink of a hurricane. It was raining, and it was my first time going that far alone. It was dark and the highways were packed due to the holiday weekend and people caught in the rain. Well, there was a detour. I got lost, and I was very nervous because it was dark, and this was kind of in the middle of nowhere. There was an issue ... (more)
Pros
I am a big audiobook person, so initially...I was really happy with the 6-CD changer. I am now really happy with the ability audio feature to play my smart phone through the speakers. I love the leather seats. No real feature, but they are nice to look at. I love having a big trunk for space. I love having lots of leg room in the back. I love having four doors. I love how high the seat is. I believe that a lot of cars have this now, but it has been nice to not have to climb out the car--but to slide out the car. I like the mileage. It has not been perfect, but it I would say that... (more)
Cons
It is not as sporty. I am glad that it is not the old ford Taurus, but this was the body style before the new Taurus. It is not bad, but it would be nice to be a little bit sportier.
1995 Ford Taurus - Great car for a construction worker.
The 1995 Ford Taurus 3.8 Wagon is the perfect vehicle for the construction worker with a family. It seats 8: 3 in the front, 3 in the middle, and if needed, pop tailgate and pull the lever to fold up 2 more seats facing out the back window (kids love it). Perfect for the working man or woman that takes his or her tools to work. Pop the tailgate door open and/or remove your tools and close the door.
Story
The 1995 ford Taurus is front-wheel drive. It's easier on the engine to pull a vehicle then push it. Makes it really handy going to Big Bear. My cousin, daughter, and his kids were on our first trip to Big Bear. People stared turning their cars around to back up hill because they were tending to slide downhill instead of uphill. At the time, I didn't understand what was going on. We had no cha... (more)
Pros
Front-wheel drive car so you won't have as many issues in the snow, and that is what makes it great for going to Big Bear. While people are backing up hill, I'm facing forward and enjoying the view. Takes $45 to fill up the tank, lasts me all week--about 300 miles highway, 225 street. Lots of room in the back for groceries, tools, or whatever your need to carry. Pros are all the information you need on any recalls are up on the web. As long as you keep up with the oil changes, you'll be fine as long as you take care of the car. A fairly new engine for the vehicle is a little over $500. So ... (more)
Cons
Recalls. The vehicle's owners manual says to put 5w30. This is wrong. An independent engineer proved a big reason why the head gaskets were deteriorating was because the oil was too thin. Ford never admitted to it until the new Taurus was released. Always use 10W30 and do your oil changes regularly. Spark plug locations are a pain in the butt. Three in the front by the radiator (if you have big hands, you're going to have to remove the radiator fan to reach in with a socket wrench to remove them). Then three in the back. Spark plug 1, 2, & 3 location for a man of my height is a pain to get... (more)
