I bought a used 1983 Honda Accord from a professional mechanic. He told me the car was very reliable and great on mileage. I paid him $2,400 for it. I loved that car. It was a stick shift and I would tool around in it and drive long distances in it. It was great on mileage, comfortable and practically never needed maintenance. In fact, at one time when I was with someone else, we used that person's SUV and the Honda Accord sat up on blocks for 7 years. When we broke up, I had it towed to a nearby garage, they replaced the battery and VRRROOOOOOOOOM! That thing started up immediately. The mechanics were stunned at what a great car it was. It was 23 years old when I finally laid it to rest and only because some teenager ran a red light, T-boned it and pushed in the passenger's side. Even... (more)
Story
I drove my Honda Accord from Los Angeles to Lake Tahoe to meet up with a friend for the weekend right after buying the car. I wasn't used to driving stick shift and at one point after stopping at a stop sign on a lonely road, suddenly forgot how to shift it! I think I was just nervous for no particular reason. Anyway, I calmed down and the car responded just as it should. On my way back to LA,... (more)
Pros
Dependable Great gas mileage Very little maintenance needed Stick shift was fun Sturdy
Cons
I honestly can't think of a negative thing about it.

I liked how much room the car has. It performs like all Hondas do. Extremely reliable even when problems do occur, the car doesn't give up. If it's maintained properly. The build quality is exceptional. There are no interior rattles, and I have driven 15,000 miles. The interior materials look and feel high quality, and have held up well over time. I have experienced small issues such as interior lighting on stereo went out due to cheap manufacturing costs and wear n tear over life of the car. The tail lights on the trunk have wiring issues do to the trunk being opened and closed countless times. Also, the plastic pieces that are under the cars front bumper and wheel well area have fallen off due to the car getting old. And the electric powered windows particularly on the driver side ha... Story
Driving the car fast, it feels high quality but also like a tank it has much more power than you would think for only being 140 hp.
Pros
4-cylinder engine on the top level accord. Moon roof/alloy rims. The ability to climb high into miles without major maintenance. Comfort and roominess.
Cons
Since my car has over 320,000 original miles the engine has been replaced, but the transmission hasn't yet. Due to the high mileage, I will need a new transmission ,which is going to cost more than the car is worth blue book price. It's an automatic, with transmission problem I would prefer it to be stick that way it would be easier to drive. Electrical problems causing doors unable unlock once all doors locked. Paint fading on roof.

They were okay. I don't think I got the best deal but I got the car and left. They were ok at best. The salesman was a little pushy but I got the car I wanted anyway.

They were able to answer all the questions I had about the car. They weren't pushy or trying to force me to buy a car right then and there like other dealerships I'd been to.
