The car has been good to me over the years, I got this car back in 2004. It had 60,000 miles on it and now it has close to 180K. It has taken its share of beatings over the years. I had a deer jump out and hit the side of my car. I had a ruthless loose grocery cart during a strong storm rip its way across an empty parking lot and smash into the side of my car. My car took it like a boss. I have driven off road many times (sometimes intentional, sometimes not). Aside from basic wear and tear, the exterior cosmetics have held up pretty well. I drove this thing like a go cart and the engine is still pretty solid. Until recently I never had any serious repairs. As of late, I have had to replace the steering column, clutch, fly wheel, and numerous tires, and an O2 sensor.
Story
This pup has been through all sorts of shenanigans. This car has great sentimental value. It is impossible to pick just one.
Pros
I would say the car has consistently performed well over the years. I usually kept track of how many miles I got per tank, and it has not deviated much from set point. Interior wise, I can report that the power windows and locks never stopped working. All the main electrical components maintained their operation. One thing I did like about it in particular was that you could lock all the doors by pulling the driver's side door handle then push the lock down to lock all the doors. This was especially handy considering the car never had a remote keyfob.
Cons
The steering wheel has sort of melted over time. In the summer months, sometimes the steering wheel would be all sticky and when cooled parts would chip off. This car did have some minor muffler and exhaust issues consistently throughout its life span. I wish I could write more, but honestly I am not much of a complainer. I understand things break down over time and I thought this car did its job well.

1997 Honda Civic - No longer shiny, but still dependable.

I'm not a car person. I don't ask much from a car. I just want it to get me around reliably and without requiring a lot of money for repairs, maintenance, or gas. The Honda Civic has been wonderfully reliable. I bought it used in 2003, I've had it almost 14 years, driven it across the United States, used it almost every day, in cold weather and hot weather, hardly put any money into it, and it's still as dependable as ever.
Story
I drove back and forth quite a few times between Los Angeles and Humboldt County—about a 15-hour trip. I'd occasionally stop at a rest stop and take a nap. Put the seat back and doze, it's plenty comfy.
Pros
Reliability!
Cons
The gas mileage has never been all that good: only about 26 mpg. Parts for it are starting to become a little difficult to find. Both side mirrors have broken off (kids!), and I haven't been able to find replacements. The driver's-side window is difficult to roll up and down. It needs a part, too, which is difficult to find. It doesn't accelerate especially well. If you want to race, get a different car. No problem getting onto freeways, though.

The dealership was really helpful helping me find my first brand new car! They had the friendliest staff compared to a few of the other local dealerships.
