2002 Honda Civic - A great and super dependable car. Very comfortable, handles well, good fuel economy, and very low maintenance.

It's a wonderful car, especially as a first car for going to college in (which is when I got it). But it's been great for everyday life since graduating. It's small, but still has plenty of space for passengers, or random art projects (I was an art major in college, and currently an artist). The gas mileage is great. I don't have to fill up often at all, and it doesn't cost much to fill up the tank. It handles very well, very tight steering, great brakes, acceleration is good (not like a sports car, but great for what I need it to do). It also has great safety ratings, and I feel very safe in it. It's very dependable and very rarely has any major mechanical issues. The engine stays in excellent shape, even though it has 200,000+ miles on it now; it still runs like a brand new car. No w... (more)
Story
The time I got lost in Dallas hauling 800+lbs. of clay and clay supplies. The car was ever so slightly sluggish, but it handled the extra weight well. I don't recommend doing that though, as that much excess weight can damage a smaller car like the Civic. I was fortunate that it didn't harm anything, but it was still funny that it seemed to handle that much extra weight as well as it did, part... (more)
Pros
Very dependable and low maintenance. As long as you do all the preventative maintenance on it (regular oil change, break checks, spark plugs, tires, shocks and struts, etc.), it never seems to need any major mechanical work except very rarely. The gas mileage is great. Back when I was driving to and from college (about 40 miles a day or more), I only had to fill up about once a week. Now I fill up about every other week, as I don't commute as much. It's a good size for what I need it to be; it was great for my needs for college and great for now with a small family (only one kid). It seems... (more)
Cons
The only major mechanical issue I had was when the transmission went out after about 170,000 miles. It gave no warning; just suddenly stopped working. I was lucky I wasn't on the freeway when it went out. That's really the only negative experience I've had with it. If you've got a larger family (more than one or two kids), then it will probably be too small for you.

2002 Honda Civic - This car *fits* me. I am very short (5'0"), and it's been the most comfortable and safe car I've ever been in.

The performance is great. The acceleration, steering, breaking are all very responsive. It handles very well. It almost never breaks down and is super dependable. The interior is nice and has a soothing feel to it (charcoal grey/black interior). It saves a lot of money on gas, as it gets great mileage. For a small car, it feels very roomy inside. It's very safe and has protected me from serious injury in the few wrecks I've been in. Only complaints I have are the parts can be expensive to replace on the rare times it did require major repairs.
Story
I somehow managed to fit a full-size electric exercise treadmill in the car. I wasn't really thinking about how I was going to get it home when I purchased it and was very pleased to discover that the back seats fold down, thus giving more storage space. The treadmill was a perfect fit, and I could even close the trunk! I hadn't thought to check if the seats fold down before that moment. Kind ... (more)
Pros
Very dependable, handles great, excellent safety record, and saves a lot on gas.
Cons
Parts can be very expensive or hard to replace, even finding used parts. Very rarely has any major mechanical problems, but when it does, there's little to no warning (My transmission was working just fine, then suddenly stopped and had to be replaced with absolutely no warning that it was going out). Though the car fit me great (cause I'm short), it might be a little cramped for tall people to be in. Also, the engine doesn't have a lot of power, so if you're carrying a lot of weight (I'm an artist, and have stocked a lot of clay in the car to take home, like 800+ lbs.), you really notice ... This dealer gave me a good trade in. They also helped me select a car that fit my needs. I liked that they were fast and efficient. I was buying this car while living out of state, and they helped me with the necessary paperwork and out of state sales tax issues. I would highly recommend them if I were buying another car.
