This is not our first Honda, but it is our first Pilot. Like all Honda’s, the Pilot has been incredibly reliable. We bought the car new in 2010 and have never had a problem with it. We simply upkeep the regular scheduled maintenance and we feel confident about driving this baby across town or across the country. The leather interior has held up well and worn in nicely. We do take good care of our vehicles, but also use them to their fullest potential. That said, the interior still looks great for four years of everyday use plus road trips. We have taken a number of road trips with the family and the Pilot has plenty of room for all our people, all their gear, and to make for a very comfortable journey. While the Pilot is fairly quiet on the interstate, it also has plenty of power to pu... (more)
Story
At least once a year we travel 15 hours across the country to see my parents. This trip has become so much more fun since we got the Pilot. The ride is so comfortable that the stress of the trip is no longer a problem. The last time we went, we took side roads and back streets exploring several small towns along the way. We found some awesome barbeque in several of these little towns. We used ... (more)
Pros
We love the attention to detail in the interior. The sound system is great, with easy access to the controls on the steering wheel. While the Pilot has every kind of plug and audio input jack available, we truly love the USB adapter that allows us to play music directly from a flash drive. No more books of CDs. With a few flash drives we have more music than we could ever listen to on a single trip!
Cons
The only negative we have experienced is a real problem finding after-market windshield wipers that fit correctly. After some failures in that department, we just buy them from the dealership.

The Honda Pilot is probably the best SUV, maybe the best overall vehicle that I have ever owned. It had been totally dependable and reliable, has decent styling, good power, and is very comfortable. I live in the Northeast and the 4WD allows me to drive through snow with ease. The car looks great and has a decent interior - a bit utilitarian, perhaps lacking sophistication of some of its contemporaries, however, perfectly suitable for a workhorse SUV. The cargo space is ample and the cabin is roomy. Maintenance and repair costs have been low and within reason. Overall, this is a fantastic vehicle and I would not hesitate for a moment to purchase it again.
Story
Once we were using the Pilot to transport food from a caterer to an event hall for a party due to the amount of space our car had as opposed to the other vehicles available. About halfway through the trip, we noticed that the the food smelled very strong and very good. When we arrived and opened the back, we were surprised to see meatballs and sauce everywhere. We eventually got the smell and ... (more)
Pros
The 4WD is one of my favorite features. It is selectable (not full time) which allows the Pilot to be fairly economical with regard to fuel economy. The Third Row seating is not something that I use very often, but it sure does come in handy when we need to carry a couple of extra people. The 6 Cylinder engine provides ample power and the vehicle drives surprisingly smooth for being based on a truck frame. The controls are laid out nicely and the seats are very comfortable. This is the vehicle that we always choose to take our long drives with.
Cons
There are a few cons with this vehicle, mostly wear and tear issues. The covering on the door handles eventually peeled off and became sharp to the point of cutting my hand. The two access covers in the rear hatch for the light bulbs constantly fall off. The bottom plastic trim on the driver side seat became loose and had to be fixed after getting caught on my pant leg and tearing off. The tires seem to wear down quicker on the SUV than others I have had.

I've always owned Hondas, and transitioned from a 2005 Odyssey EX-L with all the bells and whistles. Unfortunately, Honda has abandoned the leather seats I was used to for lower-quality "leather trim" that even the salespeople point out isn't worth the price (the add-on accessories lady actually said that to me). I also miss the sunroof, which is ONLY available on the top two model trims. Also ONLY available in the most expensive models: Sirius/XM-ready capability. This was almost a deal breaker for me. Being a long-time Honda customer I was irritated that they decided to make something that used to be so easy into something ridiculously expensive and difficult to get. I'm not going to pay thousands of dollars to get two features I really want, only to have to put up with half a do... (more)
Story
It's still too new. I haven't done anything fun in it yet.
Pros
It's big, but it drives small. It's comfortable and quiet, and handles like an absolute dream. Hondas colors and design upgrades are much improved over recent years. My Pilot is a deep, sparkly blue with gray and black interior. It's a very attractive vehicle from every angle, and it's so fun to drive.
Cons
I think Honda may have been deliberately controlling the supply of new Pilots available, both to make it easier to sell older models still in stock, and to create market demand. And they're pricy. I've noticed the price slowly creep up as people see them out and about and say "ooh, what's that?"
