2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee love
Overall, I have loved my 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. I bought it when it was one year old and had 14,000 miles. Now in 2017, I have just under 100,000 miles on it (I don't drive a ton. A few cross-country trips but mainly to work and back), and it is still going strong. I plan on driving this for a long time (until it breaks), as it is currently paid off. However, I love it so much that I plan on continuing to purchase Jeeps as long as I am driving. My next car will be a Jeep Wrangler.
Story
Helping my friends get around when their cars get stuck in the Indiana winters.
Pros
My favorite thing about my Jeep is how it handles driving in less than ideal conditions. I live outside of Chicago, so we get terrible winters with lots of snow, and I never worry about handling issues. Also, I added a towing package, so I can haul things that a car couldn't. I enjoy having space for groceries and friends. I am a veterinarian, so it has come in handy when hauling pets around.
Cons
My main complaint is the gas mileage. I average about 12 MPG in town, and if I am lucky, I can hit 20 MPG on the interstate. Also, it is a top-heavy vehicle, so quick maneuvers are somewhat dangerous. During my time that I have had it, I have also had issues with the starter, tires, emergency braking system and antilock braking system.
2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee - Why I still drive my jeep
I leased my Cherokee in 2002, decided in 2005 that I wanted to keep this one and leave the lease program. I didn't like the boxy body style they had changed to that year. I liked my Jeep's curvy lines and color. She has served me well over the past 13 years. The four wheel drive has been handy to have in snow and mud. The fold down seats, and larger cargo area were just what I needed for the six years I owned a small convenience store in a small town. Not many things were delivered, since I couldn't order small quantities, so the Jeep made weekly trips to Kokomo to get supplies from Sam's and GFS. The Jeep has almost 174,000 miles from regular trips to work, to trips to Pennsylvania, Iowa and Missouri. There have been few mechanical problems, and all have been easily repaired. Mostly ... Story
The moon roof has been a source of entertainment for the girl I watch occasionally. She loves looking at the clouds and stars through it. Once, my husband and I watched fireworks through it, because we had parked too close to the launch site and ashes were falling on us.
Pros
Four wheel drive, spacious cargo area, good gas mileage
Cons
Rust in the wheel fenders, one front wheel bearing gave out three times

The salespeople are really nice and helpful. They try hard to work within your budget to get you into a car that meets your needs.
