2008 Hyundai Elantra - Hassle-free, gas-friendly dependable commuter vehicle
I purchased my Hyundai 2008 Elantra in June 2007. Over the past eight years I have had to do ZERO repairs to the vehicle; outside of normal maintenance (oil, fluids, tires) I have never had to take this vehicle to the shop. The tank holds 13 gallons and I regularly get between 350-400 miles per tank, regardless of the type of driving. I purchased the base trim and still found the interior to be attractive, with a dual color scheme. Factory stereo has been perfectly adequate and vehicle did come with the option of utilizing satellite radio. I am an extremely active person and am pretty brutal to my seats (I run, swim, and bicycle and bring sweat and water into my car a lot); I have been able to easily clean the seats with a standard carpet cleaner.
Story
I have taken this car to the beach several times. There is plenty of trunk spaces to load it up with a cooler, chairs, boogie board, and other essentials. I love rolling down the windows as I get close.
Pros
Great gas mileage
Extremely dependable
Great trunk space
All of the standard features (cruise control; AC; power windows, doors, and locks; CD/Radio/Aux input) without too many computer parts for things to go wrong
Cons
Though I think this car is a great ride, extremely long road trips (8+ hours) can become uncomfortable
2014 Hyundai Elantra - Love my car!
The biggest news for the 2014 Elantra is a 2.0-liter direct-injection four on some models that boasts 172 horsepower. The Limited, though, carries on with the previous 145-hp, 1.8-liter four mated to its standard six-speed automatic (several other Elantra trim levels offer a manual transmission). In sedans, the 2.0-liter only appears in a new Sport model; the coupe and the GT see wider application. Without the power upgrade, the Limited feels pretty familiar, which is to say, the power is merely adequate. Drive quality remains lazy from an engine that doesn't much like to rev and a transmission programmed to help maximize fuel economy rather than fun.
Story
My husband and I went down to Savannah with friends and had a great road trip.
Pros
The pros are that it has been great on gas mileage for me. It also runs well, and whenever it has needed service, it is done fast and at a good rate. It is a nice car to drive.
Cons
The cons are that like any make, Hyundai's have recalls and parts that break. One of these was related to the engine and caused my car to not start. Hyundai fixed it for free, but it was still very inconvenient.

The employees are great! Everyone is so nice, they don't pressure you into anything, and they gave me an incredible deal on a car that I really wanted to buy! Their service department is incredible as well.

They weren't as pushy as the other dealerships we went to. They were also one of the few that actually had the car we were looking for. They then called me a year later to check and see how the car was holding up, and to let me know about a possible rebate that hyundai was doing.
