Summer, 2015, Northern California. Those who live here know that a foggy morning could turn into a scorcher later on in the day. So I was looking for a car to replace my oldie without A/C, otherwise I would be a toasty pig in a blanket. When I laid my eyes on the Elantra, I knew this was the car for me. From the exterior to the interior, it felt like the car was cut from a single piece of metal—all of the lines melted into each other. From the little shark fin radio antenna to the viper eye looking headlights and taillights to the "smiling" radiator grille, this car has the aesthetics of a praying mantis ready to pounce out onto the road. The little 1.8L engine that could, providing a zippy experience, capable of merging into traffic with the big boys and providing countless hours of f... (more)
Story
Love taking this car out on the West Sonoma backroads, hugging all of the turns.
Pros
Top positive would be the huge trunk. I mean, it's massive. It fits my massage table, board games, tools and all the junk that invariably gathers in the car itself.
Cons
There were a number of recalls on the car, but it was all fixed by the dealership. Recently, the airbag light turned on, suggesting an airbag failure. I'm figuring it out.

I received this vehicle in 2015 from my grandfather after he passed. While the car was seven years old, it only had 32,000 miles on it. For the most part it has been a decent car. I previously owned a Toyota Corolla, which seemed to have a bit more power and a few less problems than my Hyundai. The Hyundai makes sounds when the car gets wet and has had some electrical problems (passenger window won't roll down if trying from the driver side, tire light goes on when there is nothing wrong with the tires). The car can accelerate pretty decently for how small it is, and the turning radius is pretty decent. I think Hyundai is making improvements and will eventually be on par with Toyota.
Story
My car was shipped from Colorado to California, and when I picked it up in LA, I could barely recognize it from all the dirt it had accumulated on the ride. That was a fun carwash afterwards!!
Pros
Small, good acceleration, decent turning radius.
Cons
Electronic issues, squeaks when wet
