The 2000 Jeep Cherokee Sport is a classic. It has THE classic, sought after straight-6, 4.0 liter engine that is considered Chrysler's great engine. It is torqued so tightly, it can accelerate on hills and blow the door off any car or SUV that isn't sporting a $50,000 price tag. These engine typically get well past 400,000 miles. I am just about at 200,000 and have had no issues with the engine or transmission. The jeep is comfortable to ride. And one thing that I consider a priority over everyone's newer designs is the minuscule blind spot. Every great car design included making the smallest blind spot conceivable for a particular body design. Now, with the wedging and pinching of the back ends of cars and SUVS and their tiny rear windows, it is impossible to survey the road just by u... (more)
Story
Many of them. Mostly of knowing I could stop anywhere, in a forest, under some trees, after a mountain hike and lay down the back seat and go to sleep.
Pros
The engine. You can't touch the classic Chrysler straight-6, 4.0 liter engine. The ride is so comfortable. Durability. Dependability. Air conditioning runs cold. Great visibility. Tough, great looking.
Cons
Very few. The electrical on all that vintage of Jeep is a little undependable, as well as the electric window motors.

The 2014 Jeep Cherokee I purchased is not the right fit for me. The vehicle itself seems to be functional enough. I have had mechanical issues, which were taken care of at no charge by the dealer. Initially, it was not shifting well and was a dog off the line. Since I have had it serviced, they have fixed that issue. Having said that, the four-cylinder engine is inadequate for this vehicle. In terms of fit, I am 6 feet 2 inches and weigh 275 pounds, and I am much more comfortable in a minivan or pickup.
Story
Sorry, no fun stories in this car. It worked for taking stuff to Goodwill. We did take it to the mountains once and a coil failed, and we had to drive it home on three cylinders. The good news is we made it back and the dealer fixed it under warranty.
Pros
Seats fold down so it hauls a fair amount of cargo. It is adequate for local driving but not comfortable on longer trips. Looks nice, storage under passenger seat.
Cons
Four-cylinder engine not adequate. Drink holders in the wrong position. CD player hard to get to and isn't practical for when you are driving. I tore open my shin on the headlight switch more than once. I do not like the large screen digital display, radio will not turn off. The analog controls beat the digital touchscreen so this is a waste of space and a dangerous distraction for the driver.

The salesmen were nice and friendly. They allowed me to test drive by myself which was a major factor. I would not have bought the car had they come along. Not pushy even in the slightest.

They did not attack me the way a traditional dealer would. Quick signing of my documents and quick exit.
