This vehicle has been the best car we have owned. It gets around well in snow and ice. It has 168,000 miles and is still going strong today. It gets fairly good gas mileage and uses very little oil between changes. It doesn't rust at all. The paint job still looks great. It gets around very well in rough terrain. It pulls our 12-foot trailer with our side by side on it with no lagging of the engine. I would recommend a Jeep Liberty to anyone that wants a trustworthy vehicle.
Story
We hauled our ATV for the first time to an off-road park, and we spent the weekend enjoying the trails. Then we said we could have just driven the Jeep on the trails.
Pros
It get around exceptionally well in ice or snow. It get pretty good gas mileage. It has a good tow rating. It tows real well. It drives smooth on or off road. It never uses oil. We are hardly ever low between oil changes. The four-wheel drive is very dependable. The body does not rust, and we have driven it on salted roads every winter. If you lay the rear seats down, there is plenty of space to use to carry lots of gear. There are rails on the roof to carry cargo on the top. We have a cargo bag that rides nicely. The motor has 168,000 miles, and we have done very little maintenance, and i... (more)
Cons
The seats stain. They will not wash out. The seats are rigid and uncomfortable. The rear seat window motors are bad. They quit working and will not roll down or up. They are made of cheap plastic in the motors. The spare tire position get in the way when hooking a trailer to the back of Jeep.

I own a 2004 Jeep Liberty with four-wheel drive. I purchased the Jeep Liberty after owning a Jeep Grand Cherokee for years and years. The Liberty is a good car, but the Grand Cherokee is the best! My Jeep Grand Cherokee had almost 300,000 miles on it and was still running good when I sold it. I purchased the Jeep Liberty because I needed to get something with better gas mileage, and I was told that the Liberty would be better gas mileage. But the truth is, it's not that different, and the difference in the comfort and extras on the Grand Cherokee far than make up the difference in the difference in gas mileage. If I remember right, the Grand Cherokee got anywhere from 12-14 miles per gallon, and the Jeep Liberty gets about 17-19 on a good day. Not enough to make up the differenc... (more)
Pros
Compact parking. Four-wheel drive. Better gas mileage.
Cons
No heated leather seats. No moon roof. No automatic seats.
