2006 Kia Sportage - Happy, Dependable
Overall I'm very happy with my vehicle, though there are some areas that I wish could be improved upon. It has performed well for me for 140,000 miles, with no major mechanical failures or issues. It is dependable, and visually pleasing.
Story
I've taken several 1000+ mile trips in this vehicle, which have all been wonderful. I had it shipped to Hawaii and all over, it has served me well.
Pros
It has an excellent amount of space for carrying items and equipment around. Being able to easily lower the back seats makes it ideal for large items that require the whole back area. It contains plenty of power for a mid-size SUV and acceleration is never a problem. I appreciate its aesthetics and overall appearance a lot.
Cons
The gas mileage leaves something to be desired. I wish the vehicle got slightly better gas mileage in the city and freeway driving. Though I have had no major mechanical failure, the scheduled maintenance is a little pricey if you follow exactly what the book recommends. I wish the stereo system came with an AUX input by default.
2013 Kia Sportage - Loved it until the recall.
I loved my Sportage. The trim, the turbo engine, the way it drove. I told my husband that I was going to drive the vehicle until it wouldn't run anymore. Fast forward to the engine recall. One of the only things I demand of a vehicle is reliability; everything else comes second. I don't live close to a dealership, so I made the decision to trade it for a Chevrolet.
Story
Getting onto the highway was fun because of the turbo. The cooled seats came in handy during Texas' summers. It was one of my favorite features.
Pros
Technology.
Cons
Engine recall.
