I purchased this car new and have driven it just over 200,000 miles. It was a replacement for a pickup I traded in. This is very comfortable to operate, extremely reliable, and wonderful in the winter. This is not an economy car! I get about 20 miles/gallon. I prefer the door on the back instead of a hatch, since it is easier to use with packages.
Story
I took this car to a picnic last August at a ski area. There were trails used by the resort to service the lifts and runs that were open to our use. My friend had brought his Hummer. The Hummer broke down 5 miles from the resort but it was no big deal for my car to tow it out. We were very generous with the pictures of the Discovery pulling his Hummer!
Pros
First, the car is very easy for a tall person to enter and exit. Second, I like the storage area when the seats are up as well as when the seats are down. I live in an area where snow is very common and love the way this car gets around in bad weather. I have taken as many as five people for long drives and everyone was comfortable.
Cons
This is not an economy car and getting it repaired is more expensive than our other car. Parts can be very hard to find or very expensive.

My land rover DISCOVERY LR3 is a great vehicle for me. It's big so I can easily fit inside, and on the road it's a beauty. It's fast when you need it and very comfortable for passengers.
Story
I have taken it off-roading, and it was the best. When other vehicles got stuck I flew right by them, even some new cars. I was extremely proud of my SUV.
Pros
If you want to go off-road it's the best. You don't lose comfort, and you have the strength and engineering of LAND ROVER working for you. It is also very strong structurally for when there is a car collision, most likely you would be ok because of the safety features.
Cons
Repairs are expensive. Any little part of LAND ROVER costs a bundle, also you have to find specialtrained technicians to work on it.

The Land Rover Discovery is a fantastic vehicle overall. I have owned it for over 10 years. Because of its off-road abilities, I have been able to travel to many places most people cannot. This has allowed me to reach rock climbing sites, kayaking put-ins, and camping sites with the gear required for the activity. The vehicle is fun to drive. The rugged appearance fits my personality. There is plenty of room in the vehicle for passengers and gear. The rear seats are elevated for better viewing angles of the road. There weren't really any blind spots. The vehicle feels very safe on and off the road. The acceleration of the Land Rover is rather slow due to its weight, but is acceptable for its class. The vehicle's braking is average. I perform all the maintenance on the vehicle so it doe... (more)
Story
I've had many great adventures in this vehicle.
Pros
Ability, appearance, luxurious interior and ride are my favorites.
Cons
Gas mileage in the Land Rover is terrible.
