2007 Nissan Versa - Great economy car

The car has great fuel economy at around 28-32 mpg with moderately zippy acceleration. If you're into "hypermiling" and increasing the fuel economy even more, the 6-speed manual drive option is a must. I've experienced no serious trouble with the car other than wear and tear -the A/C died slowly after 50,000 miles (after heavy use in humid Florida) and an engine belt wore down at 60,000 miles. Good leg room in the front for taller folk and seats three kids easily in the back for family commuting. The engine is pretty quiet. The basic car model is bare bones unless you add the upgrades, and the manual option is also basic for what you pay for, but this is an all-around excellent car for commuting, comfort, and fuel economy in the South. Not recommended for snowy weather since the car si... (more)
Story
I drove from Tampa to the University of Central Florida and back all on one tank of gas! I was running on fumes when I finally got off the highway on the return trip and coasted into the nearest gas station though, so maybe I wouldn't recommend for you to do the same.
Pros
My favorite things about this car is the fuel economy and the comfort. The car gets 28-32 mpg. I am really getting into "hypermiling". The manual drive on this car makes it easy to downshift instead of using the break and coasting to increase fuel economy even more. I am a bit tall, so it is important that there is plenty of leg room in the front seats. The car has a nice amount of pickup and a zippy feel so I feel light and maneuverable on the road.
Cons
I wouldn't recommend this car for a lot of snowy and icy weather since it sits low to the ground, has small tires, and the manual drive option I have does not include all wheel drive or other options. The hatchback model allows you to slide more goods in the truck area and through to the back seat, but there isn't too much storage available as with other economy sized cars. The back seats have less leg room than the front seats, so it's not as comfortable for adults. The body style is a little dated so it's not as cool looking anymore.

I've had this car for 6 years now and it was the first car I've ever owned brand new off the dealership floor. I appreciate the affordable price-point and the utility it offers for such a small vehicle. The finishes on the car leave a little to be desired but for a cheap car it's pretty much expected. Over all I would recommend this brand to others, and it was my experience with this vehicle that led me to buy a second vehicle also from Nissan.
Story
I took this car on vacation a few times with my family and had a great time and had plenty of room for luggage.
Pros
The best thing about this car hands down is the price. You won't get a better value on the market today. I bought mine for $15,800 new 6 years ago. I've put this car through hell with a paper route over several years and have still put less than $1,200 in repairs/maintenance into it over 117,000 miles. It's fun to drive and makes me a feel at ease knowing that if I get a scratch or dent here or their it's not the end of the world. It's also a great family car for 1 or 2 kids, leaving room in the trunk for a stroller and other stuff.
Cons
The biggest negative would be the rate this vehicle wears through tires. I'm not sure if it's a problem unique to my vehicle but I would often need to replace my tires, sometimes with less than 20,000 miles on a set. I frequently had the alignment inspected and it was never the issue so I'm not sure what the real problem is. Another complaint is the quality on the car's finishes. The plastic and rubber around the windows and door frames looks very weathered and the carpet and upholstery is subpar. I've had cracks develop on armrests, and the carpet underneath my drivers foot completel... (more)

We had a really great salesman. Normally car salesmen are fairly repulsive, but this man was older and not full of it. He talked to us about practical things, tried to help us with the right fit for a car. We returned several times to the dealership to test drive cars and then we returned a few times to drive the car we eventually bought. He was very patient and didn't push us into anything. I appreciated that most of all. The majority of sales guys seem to think you want to decide on a car in the first five minutes and if you don't you're not worth their time!

This dealership has amusing TV ads. Also, the spokesman for the business, who is also the owner, seems to have been in business for a long time. The product they sell is decent, if a little high priced. Dealing with their sales people is usually easy without having to deal with high pressure tactics that waste a lot of time.
