I love my Subaru.
Perfect for highway driving, the Subaru Forester averages 30 miles to the gallon, and the engine provides more than adequate acceleration for merging on to the highway. Though not flashy, the car is dependable, and the interior is spacious and comfortable. Sight lines are plentiful and blind spots are rare to find. Recently I drove the Denali National Park during their annual road lottery. The park road is 92.5 miles of twisting, narrow gravel road traversing through tundra and mountain passes. The day was cool and wet and shoulders were soft, but the Forester handled blind corners with ease and didn't break a sweat through Polychrome Pass where one wrong move would mean a tumble down a mountain as there are no guardrails at any point along the road. The interior is quiet and well apportioned for a base model, and heated seats keep one toasty warm in the winter time. The radio has a premium sound, and the sunroof feels as though it takes up the entire ceiling of the car -- it's so large. I've experienced no performance issues with the vehicle and have had mechanics compliment me on how sound the vehicle is when taken in for oil changes and routine maintenance.

Efficient, perfect Alaska vehicle.
The styling is alright, although I usually prefer Subaru's which are closer to the ground. I am a huge fan of the hatchback look. The seats are very comfortable and has plenty of storage compartments/cup holders. The gas mileage could be improved, and the certain one I have cannot get below half a tank of gas, otherwise it will malfunction. I would prefer having battery operated key to start the car on a cold morning before I go outside, but it's doable. Very good grip and maneuverability on icy roads, and is extremely easy to control skids in. All the different storage spaces are very handy, yet the car seems to have no auxiliary cord. Also, it receives weather radio which comes very much in handy when expecting bad weather or making a long trip. The truck is large enough to sleep in and the car in all isn't hard to keep clean.

I was very specific about finding a first generation Subaru Forester. The dealer called when they a customer traded in their old Forester. The dealership had the windshield replaced for free before purchasing the vehicle. The customer service provided by the service technicians has always been great. The parts dealer also regularly organizes group buys on OEM parts.
