I have a 2001 Subaru Forester S that I received last year from a trade-in. I traded a 2007 Toyota Yaris for this vehicle straight-up. I did so because I wanted a vehicle that could handle snowy and icy roads. I live in an area that is known for lake effect snow and horrible winters overall. The vehicle came with leather seats, seat warmers, AM/FM Cassette/ CD changer (6 disk). Overall, I love the feel of this car. I did get new tires once I received the vehicle, which I recommend for all used car buyers. I use the vehicle for every day commuting to and from work, overall less that 10 miles a day. I plan on running this one into the ground and then moving up to another Forester for my wife.
Story
So far, I haven't made any too long-lasting memories, but I love this vehicle so far and anticipate more memories to come.
Pros
I love the leather in the vehicle. I've always had cloth for my vehicles but I would like to have more leather in the future. I also enjoy the seat warmers in the winter months.
Cons
There is some rusting on the back window which is a concern of mine. I transport my daughter to daycare and would hate for that glass to end up in the vehicle. Also the rear motor burned out on the wipers, so those are not functioning.

I have no complaints about this vehicle throughout the years I've owned it. Other than regular maintenance and minor wear and tear, it has given me no problems. The five-speed manual transmission stills shifts smoothly, no engine trouble. It's built like a tank and can handle any weather conditions. I've owned this car for ten years and have put over 150,000 miles on it. It seats my entire family, while also being about to haul a large amount of cargo with the rear seat folded down.
Story
The day after I purchased it, I parked it in a muddy patch only to come back an hour later and it had sank into the mud halfway down the tires. I thought for sure it would be stuck out in the middle of nowhere, but this little beast just pulled itself out like it was nothing.
Pros
The AWD is magnificent. Handles normal road conditions as well as still giving a great off-roading experience if you're in the mood. Good gas mileage, especially considering large interior. The low compact profile gives a nice look over run-of-the mill hatchbacks.
Cons
The only con is the slowish acceleration time.
