First of all, I really want to love my Outback. It is spacious, I can toss my camping gear in the back along with my bike and head to the mountains--no problem. However, even when I first got the car, the seals around the front seat windows weren't tight. This causes a lot of noise when travelling at high speeds or in the wind. In addition, the head gasket needed to be replaced at about 120,000 miles. This is fine and is expected with Subarus. Unfortunately, I have had nothing but trouble since. One engine problem after another for the last 30,000 miles and three years. The latest thing to fail is the transfer case (has to do with steering).

This is a great car. It drives very well and accelerates rapidly. It has good clearance and is great for off-road. The standard racks are very convenient. Eyesight technology included with this vehicle is an excellent safety feature and works exceptionally well. The navigation and other electronics are superior and the sound of the Harmon-Kardon stereo system is great. The leather seats are comfortable and heated which is wonderful in cold wet Seattle weather.
