The sales associates were not pushy, as they do not work off of commission from the number of sales they make and how much the car costs does not affect how much they get paid.

2008 Subaru Outback - Great vehicle with a high safety rating

There is nothing to dislike about this vehicle. It's a great vehicle for people who like the outdoors (hiking, camping, etc.). It's also a great vehicle for people with pets. The vehicle has ample space for storing things needed for a road trip, and still has enough room for the whole family. The seats fold down so you can haul things back and forth if you need to. The Subaru outback has a very high safety rating and handles very well in hazardous road conditions. My Outback has 140,000 miles and has nothing wrong with it. All service has been completed and it still drives like it had 20,000 miles on it. The fuel economy is fantastic for being a utility vehicle. I can drive a week and a half without filling up again.
Story
I very much enjoyed taking our Outback on a road trip for the first time, since we have had it. We were not cramped in a small car, and actually didn't mind being in the car during the trip. We also have our own travel game, spotting other Subarus instead of Volkswagens.
Pros
Some pros of this vehicle is the storage space. It's like driving a car as far as how it handles but it still has enough room to store large items with the back seats folded down. High safety rating is very appealing because I don't have to worry about driving in the rain, ice, or snow. One of my favorite features of this car is the large storage space in the hatch and the cargo cover, so I can cover things that I've bought until I get home with everything.
Cons
The only con I can see about this vehicle is the material used on the center console and the interior doors. I have a dog and she easily puts tears in those things specifically. I know a lot of people with Subarus have pets, so I wouldn't think I'm the only one with this complaint.

This was my first Subaru and now I know what all the hype is about. While my car is pushing 20 years old, the former owners had met all the service intervals which kept it running like a champ. Mine is a manual transmission, 4-door hatchback. It has a good amount of power for a 4 cylinder and has never given me any problems *knocks on wood* despite having over 120,000 miles. My favorite thing about my car, other than its reliability, is that the hatchback has what I call a "couch" when I pop open the back. It basically converts nicely into comfy seating when I put pillows and blankets back there. Not to mention the seats fold down and 2 people could potentially car camp in it. I have taken it on many back/dirt roads, even driving it up mountains of 11,000 feet, and it has never ... (more)
Story
I went on the first date with my now husband down a long bumpy dirt road in the mountains, and we hung out in the hatchback "couch" end. It was cooler outside given that it was May in the mountains (about 10,000 feet elevation, in Colorado) and the weather was sunny when suddenly we watched a rain/hail storm sweep in. We quickly lowered the back seats and closed the hatchback and lay there u... (more)
Pros
-Good amount of power behind the engine even though it's a 4 cylinder. -Good amount of room for a smaller 4 door car. Never had anyone complain that it was cramped. -It is super reliable in that I have never had to take it in for repairs.
Cons
The only thing I dislike about my car is that it doesn't have cup holders.

This is my second Subaru Outback. My first one now belongs to my son and has approximately 150,000 miles on it. Ever since owning that vehicle, I have vowed to only purchase Subaru vehicles. My current Subaru Outback is more of the wagon style than my previous sedan. It allows me to fold one or both back seats down for an incredible amount of cargo space. As an avid camper, this is very important to me. I expect my Subaru to last several years and am happy with the way it has performed so far. I only wish I would have been able to get the larger engine. While pickup is sufficient, I grew accustomed to the 3.6L of my previous Outback. However, because of the smaller engine, I do get better gas mileage. I love the built in MP3, HD Radio and Satellite radio players. And the built in Bluet... (more)
Story
I love that my Subaru is AWD. We got stuck in a muddy mess of a parking lot once and while most other vehicles got stuck, my Subaru simply drove out without issue.
Pros
Built in Bluetooth Built in Satellite and HD Radio Gas mileage gauge and remaining miles calculator Dependable AWD Good gas mileage for an AWD vehicle Large cargo area with multiple configurations Cruise Control Automatic headlights Fog lights Rear windshield wiper
Cons
The engine is the smaller version meaning that pickup isn't quite as good The add-on package is fairly standard and I miss some of the items I had on my previous Outback The alarm button on the key fob is easy to engage accidentally I wish the CD player was able to play multiple CDs instead of just one at a time
