This is my first new car, and I have come to think of it as my baby. I have driven thousands of miles and been through so much in my life, and my Subaru has been a constant the whole time. It is completely reliable, comfortable, practical, and still remains very attractive! I love how it's a crossover - not an SUV but also not a sedan. It's the size of a sedan with the power and ability of an SUV.
Story
I drove across the U.S. - twice - in this car. From San Francisco to Boston on I-80 and then from Boston to San Francisco on I-40. Alone. I never worried about the reliability of the car. I felt perfectly safe and knew there would be no mechanical issues. Driving on the highway for so long, the gas milage was also amazing. For a vehicle of this size and versatility, the gas milage was nearly i... (more)
Pros
The first thing I fell in love with was the shape. It's so sleek and small. I am able to maneuver it like my old Civic. Very small turn radius, fits into compact parking spots. I also love the color - desert khaki. It's an odd mix of green and tan, neither color fully fits, but it's still visually appealing. It's a unique color, but not loud and bright. I love the appearance, but I also love the way it drives. It handles extremely well, takes turns amazingly, and feels pretty powerful. I love the all-wheel-drive aspect and feel comfortable taking the Crosstrek into the wild!
Cons
Honestly, there aren't a great deal of negative things to say about this car. One of the few things that I sometimes wish is that the interior design/functionality was a little bit more fancy. For example: a more compartmentalized center console or glove compartment so I could become more organized; or, more cup holder and a fold-down center seat in the back. However, these functions wouldn't really be in line with the purpose of the car. It's a Subaru. It's not a luxury vehicle. It's meant to be functional and simple, and I love that it stays true to itself.

2015 Subaru Crosstrek - Great Car, Disappointing Gas Mileage

Overall, this is a great car. It is reliable with good handling and comfortable features. This car was purchased because of its reputation for high quality handling in off road terrain as well as snowy and rainy conditions. To that end, it does not disappoint. I am impressed by the sturdy and safe feel of the vehicle in all driving and weather conditions I've encountered with it over the last year. The Bluetooth set up for cell phone calls as well as the electronic monitoring software all work well. A ski rack fits easily on the roof and the trunk has been large enough to accommodate kid's bikes and family pets. Overall it is a high quality car at a reasonable price. If the gas mileage were better I'd readily recommend it to others for purchase. But although the advertised MPG rates ar... (more)
Story
My brother's dog was riding in the trunk and kept reaching his head over to lick the cheeks of my kids as they rode in their car seats in the back seat.
Pros
It is sturdy, and handles well in a variety of weather and road conditions. Great ground clearance specs make it especially appealing for anyone looking to drive on backroads en route to remote campgrounds or trailheads.
Cons
Fuel economy is lacking and consistently comes in below what is advertised by the company. The backseat is not big enough to accommodate any more than two car seats so transporting three kids would be very difficult.
