2000 Toyota Corolla - Worth its weight in gold.
Got this gem of a car from a little old lady from down the street. Even though it's a 2000 and only had 55,000 miles, I have had no issues with it even though its an older car. It gets amazing mileage and zips along great. Really a great car for anyone looking for a reliable first car or just something to get them around town. This small but zippy car will surely not disappoint.
Story
I drove this car all around northern PA during my time completing archaeological survey. Lots of great memories that summer.
Pros
The gas mileage this car gets is the best. Only costs me twenty dollars to fill up. It has a very responsive steering wheel and accelerator. Clean and sharp interior with timeless style. The car has a very large trunk considering its small size. Folding rear seats allow this trunk space to be expanded even further.
Cons
Unfortunate, as this is an older car, it is only outfitted with a cassette player. Furthermore, sometimes the hood latch is uncooperative when attempting to access the engine compartment. Furthermore, the driver seat has limited options for adjustment, sometimes making the seat uncomfortable during long trips. Lastly, the short height of the car makes it less than ideal for taller individuals.
2009 Toyota Corolla - I'm overall very satisfied.
From the start, this car has been a pleasure to own and drive. I have had a couple of mechanical problems, but considering how much I've driven it over the last five years it has performed better than expected. I have driven it in New York City on a daily basis... Through pot holes, tight spaces and frigid snow storms. It's a perfect size for getting around such a demanding city and it can surprisingly carry a lot of stuff. The car is very comfortable in the front, but if you are a bit tall, or a bit wide, sometimes the back seat can be restricting.
Story
Every morning I drop off my husband at the station and every evening I pick him up. Our dog has gotten to know this routine and joins us every time. He sits in the back and when he gets up to look out of the window, he presses the button to roll the window down. We aren't sure if he really knows what he's doing or if it is on accident, but either way it is adorable.
Pros
The first top positive thing is the fuel economy. Second, is the roomy interior that has come in handy when I've moved and used it on a couple of cross country camping trips. I like the options for making room in the car (i.e. The back seats come down). This has allowed me to transport all kinds of things without having to pay an extra delivery fee. It's pretty amazing how much stuff you can fit into such a small car.
Cons
The bumpers!!! What are they made of anyway?!?! They crack and get scratched so easily. When living in a city you have to parallel park all the time and bumpers, well, bump each other. Since when were bumpers made for decoration? They are absolutely useless. In the middle of a cold NYC snow storm, the bumper became so cold that when I barely touched the snow bank, it completely cracked into about5 pieces. How dumb! What happened to the days that bumpers were actually made of rubber?
