I should start by letting the reader know I drive my cars very rough, as I'm a delivery driver and not a great driver in the first place, so that's an important factor I kept in mind getting this car. That said, it is a very hardy car. I've ran over countless curbs and rough terrain with minor damage to the car. Parts for it are very inexpensive and common, so replacing them is quick and easy. My Corolla has 170,000 miles on it and is still running very smoothly, the only major repairs we've had to do was replacing the power steering tubes, and reattaching the exhaust after a particularly large curb. As for appearance, it is a cute little car, and the seats are comfortable. It has a lot of console storage which is nice, and a semi hidden bottom compartment in the center console. It als... (more)
Story
I drive this car several times a summer out to cedar point/Kalahari/Put-In-Bay/African Safari park, which is an hour highway drive from me. It only takes a quarter tank of gas and it's always a smooth ride. We take the car on the boat with us to Put-In-Bay and feed seagulls off the hood. Sometimes it ends up covered in mayflies if we park it close enough to the water. And since its old we take... (more)
Pros
Insane gas mileage. Spacious trunk. Inconspicuous and cute. Durable.
Cons
The cup holders don't work. I've had coffee spilled on me so many mornings. By an older model you may want to replace the radio. Back seats have very little leg room. Wheels are too malleable. The battery holster is obnoxiously hard to put back on.

When one is considering the durability and longevity of a car, you also consider the safety rating of the vehicle. You can't beat a Toyota. They are consistently the most durable, most transferred to a new family driver. They have a solid body and are airbag equipped. The four doors make it viable to walk away from an accident that doesn't involve a head-on collision. The rating for a marginal front overlap crash was good. The side cash rating was A. Ours has been in three accidents and is still driving well after repair. It is a solid testament to the side construction as two of those accidents were side strikes. Fuel economy was another aspect that sets the Toyota Corolla above. With regular oil changes and air filter changes and tune ups, our 2005 gets 34 MPG to this day, with 173,... (more)
Story
Teaching my daughter to drive in this car. We had to practice backing up and maneuvering through cones from right to left daily. She failed two times, and after standing outside in blistering heat and guiding her through the course for a week, she finally passed her driving test. She drove the Toyota for a month before getting into an accident or fender bender after a week of driving. We got t... (more)
Pros
With the MPG on this model being consistent, it is the best value on the market. One of the longest lived models, easy to maintain, parts available, and no inherent recalls aside from the airbag. The gas mileage is great and maintenance is affordable. The crash values maintain a high percentage of survival.
Cons
Plastic front and rear bumpers, shorts in later year models of electronic controls of side view mirrors, and no ash trays.

The dealership is local so I didn't have to drive very far. Dealers are very good at selling a car. There is a very big selection of cars. The new lot looks nice. I see dealer plates on cars driving everywhere in town.
