I have a 2002 Toyota Highlander. I purchased this car because I wanted an SUV to drive my family around. We often have guests, so I wanted a vehicle that would fit at least five people. I chose a Toyota due to its quality reputation. I have had this car for over 12 years and have had very few problems with it. The transmission and other parts have held up well. I only have 110,000 miles on this car. This car has a tow package and I use it to haul a small pop-up trailer. This car has the power to tow my trailer with no problems. One thing I like about the Toyota Highlander is the ample storage area in the back. I have fitted trees, lumber and other items in the back and used the fold-down seats to easily haul large items back to my house. The car is fitted with luggage racks on top, whi... (more)
Story
I have used my Highlander for many camping trips. I have slept inside and folded down the seats to accommodate my large frame.
Pros
I am happy with the gas mileage, the room for passengers and storage.
Cons
I cannot think of any cons. I have been very happy with the car.

The Highlander is a great car! It was a gift from my father, and although I've had the opportunity to trade up, I've held onto it because it's never given me any problems. There's over one hundred thousand miles on the car right now, but I've never had to do any major maintenance aside from the required tire and oil changes. I like the size of the car, especially the height (I don’t have to deal with being blinded by another car’s headlights at night), but it's still very comfortable and easy to drive.
Story
I used this car for the five hour trip to Vegas the weekend of my bachelorette party. It fit five girls and ALL their luggage quite comfortably, and got us there and a back no problems. My girlfriends wrote "Honk if you love boobies" across the back windshield in pink and purple paint. We got a lot of honks!
Pros
The interior is spacious and comfortable, with a lot of trunk space and wide backseat, which is good for my passengers on long road trips. The car handles very smoothly and accelerates easily, even on hills and bumpy roads. I spend a lot of time on freeways, so the cruise control is very useful.
Cons
The gas mileage could be better, but it's decent for an SUV. The basic sound system that comes with the car isn't great--I'd recommend upgrading it as soon as possible. I would have liked an auxiliary or USB set-up to plug my phone into the speakers.

The folks at CarMax are very friendly and professional. The customer service is outstanding and quick. I waited no longer than an hour to get my purchase going! It was a way better experience than any other experience I've had at car dealers. Purchasing a car was a very smooth process thanks to the people at CarMax.
