2004 Toyota Sienna - overall it has been a good family car, the benefits have outweighed the cons
Overall this has been a good family car. It is easy to get in and out of and it holds 7 people with decent trunk space. The middle seats can each be removed if more room is needed and we have done this on long trips. Also, the back seats fold down in a couple of different ways for more flexibility. On this model there is only one sliding door, the other door and the back match are manual. The interior is pleasant enough and it is comfortable to drive. It is cloth interior, not leather. The gas mileage is decent for a larger type car. It is a little cumbersome to drive and has had various small issues over the years that have required repair. It also does not handle well in the snow at all there is not a lot of control. It doesn't seem to have enough power to get up steeper hills... (more)
Story
We have taken many family trips in this car, including at least 5 trips to Florida from Indiana and one cross country trip with our family of 5 from Indiana to California with several stops along the way.
Pros
It held 7 people. The two middle seats were captain seats and could be removed if necessary. There was ample trunk space. It was easy for the kids to get in and out with the sliding door and walk thru. It had better gas mileage than SUVs.
Cons
The sliding door broke a few times. The car is not 4 wheel drive and does not handle well in the snow and ice. It doesn't have the power or control to get up a driveway or onto a slick or snow covered road after a stop reliably. Hubcaps fall off (probably not con of car, but this happens despite different brand of tires). This model doesn't have the dual sliding doors and back hatch. The doors will often get stuck and not open.
